That is exactly the reason. Pneumonia of all types, not just PCP, is

more common in people with HIV. The pneumonia vaccine protects

against one of the most common types of infection, that caused by the

bacterium Pneumococcus pneumoniae, but it offers no protection against

other varieties, which are the result of lung infection by different

bacteria or by viruses.
