Guest guest
There was one time that I started to kill my mother and myself. It wasn't premeditated. She was on vacation and staying with me. After a couple of days I was pretty stressed. I was driving the car with her in the passenger seat. She was nagging at me about something, I don't remember what any more. As I drove over an overpass I turned the wheal and started to drive the car off the bridge. I was driving at freeway speeds. I expect it would have killed us to go over the side of the bridge. At the last second I consciously realized what I was doing and turned the car back to the road. It still frightens me that I was so close to doing that, and without even bringing my conscious mind in on it. Actually vacations are normally times my mother is pretty fully decompensated. Some of it is almost amusing. Like the time she was the first person to sleep on my new futon in the guest room. After her first night on it, in the morning, she sits on it and then asks me if it is comfortable. That same trip, I was heating the house with space heaters because I hadn't yet been able to afford to fix the heat ducts. She was sitting right next to a space heater. She complained about the temperature, but it was too much for her to adjust the heater. I bought her a VCR a couple of years ago as a gift. I hooked it up for her and showed her how to use it. She has never used it and says it is too complicated to put a tape into it. My parrots both hate her. When they met her, my male gray chased her around the house and tried to bite her feet. As funny as I found this, it got him scolded and caged. My female gray is smarter. She has a congenitally deformed hip and is mildly handicapped. She purposefully spent several minutes working a cup of coffee until she spilled it down mother's back. Then she sat there and looked so surprised, with the " It was an accident, I'm the crippled bird " look on her face. I'm sure it puts me in the PA hall of fame, but I still think this was hilarious. Female parrot is on my lap as I type this, and I think maybe she needs some extra kisses right about now.
