Guest guest
I'm probably not going to be much help here but we have been in a similar situation recently with clostridia. I got fed up and we reluctantly did 10 weeks of vancomycin and diflucan (I prefer naturals). It went well and we saw some great gains, mainly with speech and behaviour. Now, eight weeks later something is going on but until I get the stool/urine results this week I won't know. Behaviour has been more challenging then normal but gains with speech remain. So to be perfectly honest I don't know what is going on right now, it may be back, may be something else.I have heard that there is a rebound after any antibiotics and I have tried really hard to avoid that. We have been giving allot of probios including cutlerelle, sacc b and therbiotics but even so, you will have your work cut out for you to rebalance things when your finished with the antibiotics. Anyway, I don't regret doing the vanco sometimes I really believe it's needed. xTo: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Sent: Sunday, October 16, 2011 7:06 PMSubject: Oral Vancomycin, Clostrida & Probiotics - advice please Any thoughts / experiences would be much appreciated on my dilemma. We have a high test result Clostrida and its been recommended we use oral vancomycin. Unfortunately we did the sample just before we started the introductory GAPS diet which 3 yr old ASD son has been tolerating well for a month. Really torn about giving antibiotics after all the saurkraut, sour cream etc and probios we have been giving (granted the probios aren't 'legal'). Have high hopes for the diet. We give 1 sachet VSL#3 and 3 culturelle on top of all the fermented food. Going to add Sacch B, but will any amount of probios help do you think or in the experience of this group do we need something harder hitting? Guest guest
Yes, I'm surprised I didn't get stopped with that hand bag, it was full of lots of goodies. It's prescription only in the States too, it's just that they will prescribe it more readily. Surely there must be a doc in the UK that would RX it? You have much more help over there then we do here. xTo: ABE <autism-biomedical-europe >Sent: Monday, October 17, 2011 8:55 AMSubject: RE: Oral Vancomycin, Clostrida & Probiotics - advice please You girls and your handbags Is it over the counter in USA then? I have heard that there is a rebound after any antibiotics and I have tried really hard to avoid that. We have been giving allot of probios including cutlerelle, sacc b and therbiotics but even so, you will have your work cut out for you to rebalance things when your finished with the antibiotics. Anyway, I don't regret doing the vanco sometimes I really believe it's needed. x To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Sent: Sunday, October 16, 2011 7:06 PMSubject: Oral Vancomycin, Clostrida & Probiotics - advice please Any thoughts / experiences would be much appreciated on my dilemma. We have a high test result Clostrida and its been recommended we use oral vancomycin.Unfortunately we did the sample just before we started the introductory GAPS diet which 3 yr old ASD son has been tolerating well for a month.Really torn about giving antibiotics after all the saurkraut, sour cream etc and probios we have been giving (granted the probios aren't 'legal'). Have high hopes for the diet.We give 1 sachet VSL#3 and 3 culturelle on top of all the fermented food.Going to add Sacch B, but will any amount of probios help do you think or in the experience of this group do we need something harder hitting? Was giving L Glutamine and NAC but I believe if the guts not healed these can exacerbate the clostrida problem so have stoppedMy head is fit to explode at the moment, need some clear thoughts....... Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for your replies. Yes it is the Breakspear. On our Test result we have DHPPA at a High of 1.1. Its the Great Plains OAT test which has a reference range up to 0.59 His clostridia marker is a High of 2113 wich has a upper reference range of 220, so 10 times higher. Still grappling to understand all the figures and how they interelate. Would have thought high beneficial bacteria was good? Looking in the notes of the report has a comment about how the flavanoids of luteolin can be converted by Clostridia Orbiscindens into DHPPA. We have been giving Neuroprotek which I know has luteolin in it so I need to do some digging into what the significance of a high DHPPA is > > > How high is your DHPPA value on MAP test? > > We have a score of 3.8 (on scale of 0-1.6) > > We tried most of the things you have mentioned but it hasnt got our score to within the normal limits so we wish to use oral vancomycin nest > > Quesion is where to get it from - do you have ideas? > > I think sometimes the natural remedies are not strong enough which is when oral vancomycin could be uuseful > > peter > > > > To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe > > From: maiseydaisy9@... > > Date: Sun, 16 Oct 2011 17:06:45 +0000 > > Subject: Oral Vancomycin, Clostrida & Probiotics - advice please > > > > Any thoughts / experiences would be much appreciated on my dilemma.
