Guest guest
Dear Freinds, It was an extremely sad news. Mamata was a good girl with a happy smiling personality. Facing the odd accident and then like foenix to become MD in pathology and practicing at Akola itself was an act to be adored. But even before the accident also she was a friendly person liked by everybody. By coincidence, I remembered her a lot today. In my drama group " Ranggandh " I have staged an one act play " Katha Dinuchya Mrutyupatrachi " with colege guyes at Chalisgaon and today was the first show. I had staged the same drama at Sewagram in 1978 and Mamata had acted the leading role - Mother in law of Dinu. So while rehearsing I remembered her a lot. ( Other participants were Mini - Dr Aruna Mutha now Mrs Aruna Jain Pathologist at Wardha, Dinu- Dr Mehendale Now Professor PSM Dept, Sewagram Vinu - Dr Kaustubh Patil Now renowned ENT Surgeon at Chalisgaon; Doctor : Dr MMPrao now Anaesthesiologist at Pune. All from 1976 batch may share the same memories with me.) Today was the first show of the drama. After the show when I came back home and gone through the mails and the shocking news of Mamata's demise was there. What was the problem? Any complication related to her spinal cord injury? My deepest sympathies and condolences to Dr.Mamta's family on her sad and untimely demise. In this hour of grief and bereavement may they receive strength and serenity to cope with the pain and loss!! Suchitra Pandit (1976) came down to Akola, where Mamata lived and practiced pathology for over two decades, to attend her last rites. > > Mamta, as we all know, was confined to a wheel chair since 1980 following an accident induced paraplegia. In spite of her disability, she did MD (Pathology) from MGIMS and had settled down in Akola. The last I met her was in the 1976 batch reunion, when she came all the way from Akola to meet her batchmates and teachers. Fiercely independent, she accepted her disability , fought with great grit and determination and ensured that she lived an independent professional and personal life. > > We salute you, Mamta. > > SP > > >

I was in II MBBS when she met accident. two years back I met her at her residence in Akola where i went as ext examiner in dental college. She was little depressed and was worried about troubling family members for her illness. Bed sores were bothering her very much. She was bedridden for quite a long time. May her soul rest in peace.
