My Nada'a favorite thing to do is sit my sister, brother, and me down and

tell us she doesn't plan on living much longer. Then she will make us

choose what rings my sister and I want and who get what assets. It is a

little freaky. She hasn't even come close to dieing though. I think we

have gone through this routine about 15 times. It is starting to get really

old.

In a word, yes. And nadas are the only ones who can correctly diagnose,

treat, and manage their ailments. Doctors are wrong, family members are

wrong, but strangers in the coffee shop are experts.

It's an attention-getter (they hope).

My nada used to regularly burst into tears for no reason when she visited. I

always ignored it, and it hasn't happened the past 2 visits. She usually

recounts the tale of a different illness each visit, too, because I don't

react the way she wants me to. I ignore it.

I know what you mean. I've been there too. I'd say it's more than a

little freaky. It's manipulation and control. It's just another way

to pull all of your strings. My nada used to do that, but my sister

and I refused to listen to her once we hit our teens. And the " Last

Will and Testament " game is just a way to control you beyond the

grave. Any gift is not a gift when there's strings attached, and nada

gifts always have strings attached.

>>

my nada always tries to get me to go into her bedroom so we can " talk " in

private. it took a lot of courage but now I refuse. we can " talk " with

someone else there just fine, thank you.
