Hi again,

Yesterday I had a phone conference with the son Institute (profoundly

gifted kids) and a Dr. from UCLA. The Dr asked plenty of questions about my son

and once she had quite a bit of info, she said that ds needs CBT. She is the

3rd Dr to tell me that my son sounds like he would be considered High

Functioning Autistic/Aspergers. <sigh> Anyone else here with this dual

diagnosis?

Today we are going to see a new psychiatrist. She is suppose to diagnose ds

today " officially " with OCD and HFA/Aspergers. I am so nervous. Not sure why. I

have 3 other children that are older than this " ocd " one. My oldest (adopted)

has adhd, the next was in speech therapy and special ed, and the other I've

been after the school district to test him since he was in K (I'm still

waiting, they keep losing the paperwork and now he's in 10th grade!! grr...)

Anyway,

this son, my youngest, I always thought he was the one with no disabilities.

Now with the OCD and with the possibility of HFA/Aspergers I am just falling

apart. To top it all off, ds has to turn in all his homework right after our

meeting with the new dr. Since the ocd, he takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to do his work.

Ok, maybe I'm under stress here.

Thanks for letting me pour it all out here!

Debbi :(
