Hello...

I took my 23 month old to Dr. about 3 weeks ago. I have

decided not to take Aidan back to him for a number of reasons.

Although he says he is a DAN doctor, he was very hesitant about any

treatments besides the gfcf diet and b-12, 6 vitamins. He did not

think vaccinations had any contributing factor towards autism.

Lastly, he gave my son a prescription to Diflucan, which has made his

tummy issues horrific! I decided to use Dr. Hicks out of Atlanta

(really Wisconsin), and am so much happier with his service, even

though he is out of state and costs much more. I will just use my

normal pediatrician (Dr. ) for all other non-autism related

stuff.

On the other hand, I do know of another parent whose son is autistic,

and she loves Dr. . You may just have to get a consult with him

and decide for yourself.

I had a very similar experience about a year ago. I've been chelating her myself, and getting more educated by the minute. She is doing very well.

Hi Missy,

We are 3 hours away in Dawsonville, Ga., but it is worth the drive to

see her. You are so lucky to be so close to her. Have you seen her

yet? She observed Dr. Amy Holmes's practice before she retired and Dr.

Holmes recommended her.We miss Dr. Holmes but she is the next best

thing. She has gone out of her way to help figure out things if is

regressing. She keeps up with the latest and knows her stuff.!

She also has an off-base office that we go to.

I haven't been to her off post office and probably won't. She has agreed to do everything for the kids on post that she would do for them in her office. Right now we have not seen her strictly for autism, I am working on that right now. She did let me know that the psych I wanted to see is now accepting military insurance so we are scheduled to see him on the 22nd.

The first thing Dr. Bental advised me to do was to get a copy of "Children with Starving Brains". I had to order and recently began reading it. I can on;only read bits at a time because is just so surreal!! I feel as if I am reading my life as well as the life if my 14yr old. I already have tons of questions to ask her.

Missy,

That is great if you can get the military insurance to pay. Dr.

McCandless's book can be overwhelming and I had to read it in parts

too. I go to her office with my list of questions too.

We don't go again until March but maybe we can meet for lunch then. We

go 2 times a year and keep in touch through emails and phone in

between. I would go more often if we were closer.

Missy,

That is great if you can get the military insurance to pay. Dr.

McCandless's book can be overwhelming and I had to read it in parts

too. I go to her office with my list of questions too.

We don't go again until March but maybe we can meet for lunch then. We

go 2 times a year and keep in touch through emails and phone in

between. I would go more often if we were closer.

now we have not seen her strictly for autism, I am working on that

right now. She did let me know that the psych I wanted to see is now

accepting military insurance so we are scheduled to see him on the 22nd.

The first thing

Dr. Bental advised me to do was to get a copy of "Children with

Starving Brains". I had to order and recently began reading it. I can

on;only read bits at a time because is just so surreal!! I feel as if I

am reading my life as well as the life if my 14yr old. I already have

tons of questions to ask her.

When do you see

her next Ann?
