Guest guest
I am new to biofeedback, only having been introduced to it last November when it was suggested that the therapy be given to my daughter. Not to bore you with all of my daughter's history, I'll summarize. My daughter is now 19 and is multiply disabled, with diagnoses of mild Mental Retardation and ADD and OCD and PDD-NOS and fine motor skills issues and some OCD and others. She was transferred out of the regular school system into a special needs school in Sept 2004. Because she has transition issues, it took about 2 months for her to get acclimated to the new setting. Then in December 2004 on a school field trip, she was traumatized and has been suffering PTSD ever since. We have tried many types of therapy to help her recover. Her psychiatrist suggested biofeedback and we are happy he did. We have been working with Dr. Berman who has been a tremendous support in this undertaking. The therapy has helped her which is why we expended the money to get a system set up at home. More should be better and certainly much more affordable since our insurance doesn't cover this kind of alternative therapy. So, a little about me. I am a senior software engineer working for a large financial institution in PA (PNC Bank). I am pretty good with technology (having worked with computers for 25 yeras or so)and am now embarking on this new road. I want to learn which is why I am here. I don't necessarily want to have to get another Master's degree, but I will if necessary. I just want to be able to help my daughter. I enjoy reading all the posts here and in pocket-neurobics (and hopefully in bioexplorer soon). I don't understand them all but will try to retain what I need in order for me to learn what I need. jim
