Guest guest
Is this common? She was adjusted on Wed and so it's a little loose-- she just pulls it straight off. I find it in her crib or on the floor! Velcro is still attached. Anyone else with this problem? Thanks, Sue
Guest guest
No Sue, this is not as common with the DOC Band. Is it a new band? Sometimes they fit a little more loosely in the beginning. Hang in there, and make sure you call your orthotist about it ASAP. Kendra sbonna@... wrote: Is this common? She was adjusted on Wed and so it's a little loose-- she just pulls it straight off. Guest guest
Kendra, has only had one adjustment of her DOC Band, just 2 days ago. The orthotist is on vacation, but his receptionist just said to pull the Velcro tighter (which is specifically what the orthotist said NOT to do) and we'll see what happens. Thanks for your reply. Guest guest
We did not have velcro on our DOC band because we had a different one, for a different head shape (scaphocephalic) -- however, I would NOT take the receptionist's advice.... from what I understand of the velcro, it's not meant to be tightened, it's just meant to keep the band in place. You might consider letting your orthotist know what the receptionist suggested to you. H. -----Original Message-----From: sbonna@... Guest guest
Thanks , That was my feeling too. I'll let the orthotist know when he gets back from vacation. By the way, it stayed on last night, but she took it off dring her diaper change this morning--she's really quick! Thanks for your advice. Sue > > > > > Is this common? Guest guest
Sue, Here's my 2 cents. I take my son to Cranial Technologies for the DOC band, and at one point his band was slipping a little more than they wanted to so they told me to "take up the slack" in the velcro strap. They specifically told me not to "tighten" the band, but if there was slack in the velcro strap just to pull the velcro enough to take up the slack. We have been doing that for about a month now and it seems to have helped. The only problem I had was that my son rolls everywhere, and the 1/2 inch of velcro that was hanging at the end of the strap would cause him to stick to the carpet! The next time we went to CT Kay gave me an extra piece of velcro to cover the piece that would stick to the carpet. Now my sons rolls from room to room without getting stuck!!! Good Luck, a & Kendra wrote: I totally agree with 's response!!! Guest guest
That is so funny! One of my chuckle-y memories of this whole experience will be when one or the other of our twin boys got themselves stuck to the carpet with their DOC bands! And, since we are at the tail end of treatment, we have been more casual about letting them get ahold of the helmet--they try to put it on themselves, chew on it, crawl around with it in tow--almost as much fun as a cardboard box! -----Original Message-----From: pwaggoner [mailto:pwaggoner@...]Sent: Monday, October 16, 2000 8:04 AMPlagiocephalyegroupsSubject: Re: Re: NICOLE PULLS OFF HER DOC BAND!!Sue, Here's my 2 cents.
