Guest guest
Becky - HEY - yeah we live in Arlington and I work in Ft. Worth - we are definately getting her band at CT office - they're waiting to hear from our Insurance company (am praying they pay at least some) and then we go get the cast done. Have heard that they do get pretty hot under the helmuts. I take Cade (7 mos) to daycare everyday so I'm hoping they will work with me and take it off to dry his little head. Was the casting process hard for and you? > -----Original Message----- > From: Becky Keck [sMTP:becky@...] > Sent: Friday, October 13, 2000 12:59 PM > Plagiocephalyegroups > Subject: To Dory > > > Hey Dory! > > Didn't I see something that said you're in Fort Worth? and I are > in Dallas. Guest guest
Hey! Actually, we live in Plano. I lived in Dallas a long time, and I still have a tendency to say I live there! We were REALLY lucky with our insurance. We're on Aetna, and remarkably they approved 's band in two days. I was all geared up for a fight, and we didn't even have to argue! Answered prayer. On the casting, I did a REALLY detailed message about what happened during 's casting for another mom who was wondering - the message was sent on 10/5, so if you want to look it up it'll give you a good idea of what'll happen. All babies react differently, so Cade may just breeze through it. was okay during the first half, but was not happy at all during the second half. But it's over pretty quickly, so even if Cade gets really upset it'll be over before you know it (even though when they're screaming and crying it seems like ages!). We videod the whole thing, so someday we'll show her what it was like and what her reaction was. Do you already have an appt. for the casting? Guest guest
NO - just waiting on ins approval - should be next week sometime. We will video Cade too -that's a great idea. Have you had any problems with red spots or sores? My husband is a good artist so think he is going to decorate the band so that will be good. How long after the casting did you go for the fitting?? Any other important advice we need to know? > -----Original Message----- > From: Becky Keck [sMTP:becky@...] > Sent: Friday, October 13, 2000 1:31 PM > Plagiocephalyegroups > Subject: Re: To Dory > > Hey! > > Actually, we live in Plano. Guest guest
at CT told me to let wear the band for three hours, then take it off and look for pink spots, and wait until the pink goes away (timing it) before I put the band on. My first " official check " will be at 3:00. I've already seen a couple of pink spots when I've taken it off to dry her sweaty head. We'll see how long the spots take to go away when I take the band off at 3:00. They say ideally they want them to disappear within an hour - if it takes longer, they probably need to make an adjustment. We were cast two weeks ago. When you're cast, most likely they'll make an appt. for the fitting two weeks later, but will tell you they'll call if the band comes in early. So far I don't have any words of wisdom on the band - but I " ll keep you posted! " Thedford, Dory " wrote: > > NO - just waiting on ins approval - should be next week sometime. Guest guest
My husband is a good artist so think he is going to decorate the band so that will be good. Dory: If you are planning on painting the band, make sure you put several coats of a thick varnish over top to prevent chipping. I used acrylic paints (non-toxic, non-smelly, fast drying) and an acrylic VARNISH over top (about 6 coats over a few days). It held up pretty well after that. Also, try not to get alcohol (for cleaning) on the paint, as it tends to smear it. I actually used alcohol to remove the paint after a few months when I was bored and wanted a new design. Guest guest
>>We are moving to a new house early next month and think this might help with mold, etc.<< Dory, How did you come to the conclusion it might be mold related? I am just so giddy I might of been able to help someone!!!! FYI... Many people allergic to cats find that they do not have a reaction to Siamese cats. Guest guest
Amy - the Ped did go ahead and give him Zyrtec - it says it takes about a week to start working so hopefully by this weekend we'll start to see some improvement. We have cats and I'm beginning to think that might be part of the problem. We are moving to a new house early next month and think this might help with mold, etc. Thanks so much for the info on the Zyrtec. Let me know how it goes at the ENT! D. Guest guest
Dory - we have a cat and a dog! I was concerned about Caroline being allergic to either/both, but the Zyrtec seems to help regardless! Thank goodness. I'd hate to give up my 13 year old cat! Who'd want a used cat that old! HA Good luck with the medicine! And your new move.... maybe between the two your son will get some relief (and you too!). I found that the Zyrtec took about two weeks to work. Plus, if there is anything else going on (i.e. cold, sinus trouble) it may seem to take longer to work. I wish you the best!
