Guest guest
Hi Everyone,Thanks for all the well wishes for Shenan. Last night the vet said that she was "acting up" (which I take as a good sign - she is fiesty and does not enjoy being caged or being w/ other dogs) so they had to sedate her so she wouldn't hurt herself. She may be coming home later today. Now, I just have to worry about the biopsy results. I am praying it wasn't cancer - I made the mistake yesterday of googling her condition - I'm both encouraged and discouraged. Encouraged b/c there was no obvious cancer found anywhere else - either on the ultrasounds or when they did the actual surgery - if it was cancer, it is an aggressive cancer based on what I read -so the absence of any other tumors sort of leads me to believe it wasn't cancer, but, that said, if it was cancerous, it being an aggressive cancer, she may not have much time left anyway. Which upsets me on multiple levels, one of which is financial. I'm fine w/ paying what we paid to have this done if it buys her a reasonable amount of time - she is an older dog (10-ish - a rescue, so not sure how old she actually is) - so I am not expecting her to live another 10 years - but I'd be happy to see her hit around 12. I guess I also need to think of it this way - it was an emergency situation and there was not time to really research options - if there were tumors elsewhere in her body we would have elected to not perform the surgery and have her put to sleep, so, we did do the best we could w/ the information we had at the time and I couldn't have lived w/ myself if I had put her to sleep and never known if the tumors were benign or malignant. Apparently, tumors on the spleen can be benign (based on what I read), so there is hope that was the case. She is a very cyst prone dog to begin w/ getting lots of bumps on her skin - so maybe it makes her more likely to get them on internal organs, too? I dunno - I guess I need to stop driving myself crazy and make peace w/ what we did - the best we could do w/ the information we had at the time. Thanks for listening to me ramble. On the workout front, I did Ellen's Skinny Sculpt! This DVD is messed up and won't play in my DVD player, but plays on my computer, so I did it on the laptop. Ellen is always a pleasure to work w/ and I always feel her workouts the next day in a sneaky sort of way. She works the torso very thoroughly!ExerciseTV has all the 10 lb extreme and the original 10 lb workouts up, plus the bonuses mentioned on the rotation calandar. I'm going to start that next week - figuring I'll put KCM aside for now and do these since they are free at the moment and I need to save $$ for my vet bills - I may not follow the rotation exactly b/c some of it is strange - 80 min of working out one day - back to back upper body workouts - but I'll fiddle with it and make it work for me. If these are like the original 10 lb slimdowns, I know I can't do 80 minutes of it! Hope everyone has a good day!!Donna
