Guest guest
Could you be refering to genetics testing? I never heard of gences text before. A karyotype is a picture of your DNA . There is an excellent website I found which explains the basics of genetics on the internet : http://gslc.genetics.utah.edu Usually in genetics testing, a small amount of blood is drawn and the lab can test to see if your son's genes picture matches any known medical syndromes (collection of problems). There are many syndromes which can be checked for and many that they don't know the karyotype for. It is a very complicated subject. FLAIR is a type of imaging with an MRI. Sub Telomeric probes refers to a specific way of testing chromosomes (what makes up your DNA- every one has 23 pairs of chromosomes). Does this doctor have a nurse who works with him who you could call and ask questions, and see if they have any written material they could send you? Or could you call the doctor and ask him more questions to clarify these things for you. I looked up the doctor on the internet and found an email address for him : R.Guerrini@... He seems to do alot of research with children with PMG and lissencephaly. He specializes in clinical and genetic types of PMG. This would explain all the terms he mentioned to you. I would be happy to try to clarify more things for you if that would be helpful. You can email me off the list if you want. I hope that any of this is helpful to you Alison Cronson > >Message: 2 > Date: Thu, 12 Sep 2002 14:33:45 +0100 > From: whitelipizzaner@... >Subject: hi group > >hi my son been to great ormond street and he is seeing a professor renzo >guerrini he wnts ben to have a gences text and some other tests. have >anyone4 in the group heard of these pls flair sequences. karyotype and a >study with sub telomeric probes??? i never heard of they if anyone knows >please could u tell me what the are > thank you for your help Get more from the Web.
