I get the pain, so bad that I often have to use a narcotic to deal with it.

I demanded pain treatment, and no tylenol. That makes my liver hurt worse.

So does Vitamin A/Beta-Carotene.

Other than pain meds I find heat helps a lot. Sometimes I use those

Thermacare things plastered on either my back, my side, or in front over my

liver. They sometimes make it possible for me to go out and do things I

couldn't otherwise.

As for the FMLA, make a call to your personell office. Possible that your

supervisor doesn't understand how that act works. They can probably give the

person a clue.

Liver, and other, pains!

Anyone have a problem with liver pain? Back when I saw the hepatologist

at UofM he didn't seem concerned . . . said it was one of the chief

complaints. He didn't say to do anything about it. I'll ask again when

I go back but in the meantime I've noticed it has been getting real bad

lately. Some days it's a burning, constant pain and others a dull ache.

I'm just wondering if this misery has any company? LOL! Is it worth

calling the clinic for?

Also, I'm in the process of taking an " intermittent " FMLA leave at

work. Basically it means I can call in sick / have appointments up to

90 days during a 12 month period. My doctor at the University suggested

and recommended it. My supervisor however, is giving me lots of

problems and has in general been rotten over the last few months. In

spite of the fact that I've done every aspect of my job with little

disruption-I have used up my allotted sick days-hence the FMLA

recommendation.

Just curious how others have been dealt with. I'm a tenured teacher in

a local school district.

Hi Rick THAT is the BEST source of Milk Thistle, good choice,, RICK wrote: Hi , I used to get those pains on my side right just under the rib cage (the dull ache) the burning was more in front and up towards the rib cage (thought that was heart burn for a while, but nothing ever seemed to help). I have read about others with the same pains on this site, and hadn't thought about my own until you spoke up. Funny thing is I can't remember the last time I experienced them. Must have been some time ago, maybe close to a year now. I had the pains for years, and they were quite frequent. I had my last cigarette 1 year and 3 months back, after having smoked for 35 years, I started taking better care of myself and began taking milk thistle(silymarin bound to

phosphatidylcholine) / artichoke leaf, powdered / dandelion root, powdered / turmeric root, powdered . . . the list goes on. I really haven't done anything special except try to take better care of myself, and use what mother nature has put in front of me.Those pains used to be a real bastard. How easy it is to forget. Thanks for helping me remember. Best wishes, Rick. Happy Trails . . . wrote: Anyone have a problem with liver pain?
