Guest guest
I just am worried (okay I'm one of those people that the cup is half empty) that this is going to be a transient thing and he will regress back into some of the serious delays he has been in, and wanted to know if anyone has had that happen. Considering what our lives have been like for the past 4 months the fact he is not in constant melt downs is quite incredible. Dana

Guest guest
I know this is a personal question, but I went to talk to my Dr today and he suggested I go on an anti anxiety/anti depressent (low low dose) for these moods I am having for the past year. I have told him all about Hayden's situation and surgeries, and casting etc, and all the feelings I have been having. Does anyone else "rely" on medication to help get through this journey? My husband is against it but I want to be "me" again especially for my family's sake. Thanks for listening Hope it's not too personal Joanmom to Hayden 32nd CastTreated at ish Rite Hospital Dallas, TX
Guest guest
Thanks for all your support and kind words ladies, I always know I will feel better posting to you all. I agree with both sides of this subject and that is why I am torn. But the emotions I have been having lately seem more extreme than usual, that is why I discussed it with my doctor. So I will think about it a few days and then decide. I appreciate all of you listening to me. I know life could be much worse, but sometimes it seems like it is one thing after another and I can't catch my breathe Joanmom to Hayden 32nd CastTreated at ish Rite Hospital Dallas, TX To: infantile_scoliosis Sent: Sun, December 13, 2009 8:27:56 AMSubject: Re: Meds Joan, I understand where you are coming from. You have been through a lot this past year and we all need a little help every now and then. My BFF suffers from depression and has been on meds then off meds and tried the whole exercise thing but eventually she went back on them...If you would like to contact her she would be more then happy to help you out she is really knowledgeable on the whole issue. I am so sorry for your struggles and pray whatever choice you make works out for you...Hang in there. Guest guest
Joan, I take a anti depressant and a anti anxiety medication to deal plus therapy every 3 weeks or so. I find that since Isaiah was born i had really bad post partem depression and then with all the cast things/brain things going on with him it has helped me alot. If you think you need it and your doctor agrees you do at least give it a try. It does take about 2-3 weeks for most anti depression meds to kick in but the anti axiety meds are immediate but can make you very sleepy. Therapy can help too but it is hard to go w/o a babysitter. If you want to talk more about it just call me anytime!! P.S. DONT feel guilty/ashamed or pressured to start or not to start meds or therapy. It is a very personal decision that you and your doc should make. Good luck and let me know how it goes! Guest guest
Thanks Heidi. Meditation may help, I haven't tried it. There's also no harm in trying a combo of excercise, therapy, prayer, positive thoughts, etc..etc...meditati on if you can sit still longer than I can ; ) If I felt I was in a depression for weeks that I could not snap out of with all of this, I would try the meds.. You can also try the anti-anxiety first, since it's not the same kind of commitment. I have felt a tightness/heaviness in my chest and cry really easily in the week before casting- I also got a pain in my gut that was bad enough I had to lie down one night. Sometimes it's hard to tell how much is intense emotion and how much is actually physical- or both. Our minds and emotions can be so powerful.
