Guest guest
, There's a specific test for asthma and I hope someone jogs my memory on what it's called, but basically they test your lung function as it is now...then they have you breathe this stuff in that if you have asthma will cause a reaction and test your lung function again. Then they will medicate you if necessary to get your breathing back to normal. I wish I could remember the official name of the test because you could not be having an episode when the doctor's test you then do something to cause the episode when you're away. That's why it takes so long to diagnose. I had it for years without knowing because my triggers were ciggarette smoke and cats at the time so my breathing would be fine by the time I saw a doctor and when I would have my attacks the doctor offices were closed. No one thought of testing me for asthma until I had a good doctor and by then my asthma had become persistent and other triggers aggravated as well. Take care, Angie > My doctor is sending me back to see a specialist. So.. any day now > I'll get a call with an appointment. > > I'm nervous and frustrated at the same time because.. whenever I see > a specialist.. they tell me: your fine.. your not wheezing or > wheezy. They tell me your out of shape, and overweight.. yes I know > that.. I'm losing weight.. how can I be out of shape when I swim, do > yoga, walk and bike when I can ? > > My mom hears me wheezy.. my friends hear me wheezy.. my friend on > the phone can hear me wheeze at times.. and the doctor says I don't > wheeze ? (smacks the doctor) > > I have a question: is it possible.. to have normal peekflow readings > when your wheezy ? is it possible that the days that your told to go > for a pulmonary function test you test normal.. a.k.a good ? This > confuses me.. I dont understand it. > > > Thank you again.. >

Guest guest
What is an almost three year old doing sleeping in your bed with you?? Get the kid her own room and bed or a cough could be the least of her problems. Seriously, do a search on google. It is NOT good for a child to sleep in her parent's bed instead of her own. Update Jenavieve went to the doctor today. Her chest sounded fine. She had stopped coughing by the time the doctor got in the room (figures). The doctor said that she still believes that the cough is triggered by environmental issues. So the course of treatment is back on the nebulizer 4 times a day with the steroid in it twice a day. I need to find a way to get the singulair into her some way. She is now on liquid vitamins. She is also on the zpac for a sinus infection. If after the antibiotics are done and she is still coughing, then the doctor will do a referral to a pediatric pulminologist. The doctor said that she doesn't think that a specialist will be able to do more than what is already being done. But it will have to be the next step. I also need to air out the bedroom during the day. The doctor said it will get the old air out. This will be a slight problem as Jenavieve sleeps in bed with me and dh is sleeping in the bed during the day. I guess we will figure something out. The good news is, she has coughed very little today. She has had two breathing treatments, took her singulair with no problem and fought me tooth and nail over the vitamins but took them. I am hoping that she will do good tonight because we both need sleep. ~`~Holly~`~iel (5/96) & Jenavieve (5/02)"It is not how fast we learn that counts. It is learning that counts." Guest guest
I thought this was an asthma list not a list to discuss (or put down) different parenting styles. I will not defend to anyone the way I parent MY CHILDREN. I especially will not do it to someone who does not know me and apparently knows very little about my parenting style. ~`~Holly~`~iel (5/96) & Jenavieve (5/02)"It is not how fast we learn that counts. Guest guest
If you are determined to screw up your kids for life, I guess no one can stop you. I feel bad for your poor kids tho, who will have to deal with the consequences of their ignorant mother's actions. Guest guest
I am sorry that you have such a closed mind. I will not lower myself down and exchange hateful words with you. I do encourage you to stop being so judgmental and research info before you allow your butt to over ride your mouth. ~`~Holly~`~iel (5/96) & Jenavieve (5/02)"It is not how fast we learn that counts. Guest guest
Wow...I'm not so sure I want to be in this group if people are going to be so judgemental. Aren't there rules to this group? I agree with you maymom. My son had is own bed but there were several times that he slept in bed with me or in the same room just for the simple fact that I was afraid he wasn't breathing. I got the baby monitors and that never worked. Whenever it was silent I was up and running to the room anyway. This way I got to sleep a little more sound and so did he. He also started to sleep walk. At the time his room did not have a lock on it and he was always heading to the front door. We rented and were not allowed to put a lock on his door. The front door was locked, however, he was a climber. So again, I would have him sleep near me so that I could hear or feel him get up. And let me tell you...his life is NOT screwed up and I am NOT an ignorant parent for doing this. Way to go for not lowering yourself to other peoples standards! - In asthma , " Holly " <maymom@f...> wrote: > I am sorry that you have such a closed mind. Guest guest
Holly, Don't stop chatting with us due to one person who doesn't agree with your parenting skills. My only question, is how do you sleep with her. I've had to lay down with my 21 months granddaughter to get her to nap in the bed and she is absolutely brutal. It seems like she's the only one getting any sleep. She actually gave me a bloody nose with her foot. But if it was my child that had asthma I don't think I could leave his/her side. I know how it feels to be alone and can't even imagine how terrible it is for them. They're just too young to understand what is happening. There's alot of us that will be hear for you if you just ever need to vent or have a question. Did you check with her doctor about the dosage on the Singulair. Like I said I've been on it for 5 years and it's been a miracle drug for me. I haven't checked into it much, dosage wise, but you'd think there would be dosage increments just like Prednisone and all the other garbage that they feed into our systems. Hang in there and don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch. Take care. Betty : ) > I am sorry that you have such a closed mind. I will not lower myself down and exchange hateful words with you. Guest guest
hi everyone - well i went to my phsio appt on friday morning but he couldnt do anything because i was having too much pain. he told me to see my dr rght away for pain medication. he was also concerned because my right arm and hand are numb. fingers tingling. so i called the dr from the physio office and got an appt for a few hours later. she said that i have a pinched nerve in my upper back and gave me a script for muscle relaxer and naproxen. $75 !! eek! i dont find either pill to be strong or to be very effective, but i dont feel excurciating pain at the moment so maybe they need a couple of days to kick in... i havent worked out or even walked the dog lately... sorry jen! hopefully i will feel better next week. i have to save myself for work in the deli on mon, tues and wed. may have to rest on thurs. im supposed to have physio again on fri so hopefully this injury will be better by then. :*carolyn.
