Guest guest
Just some advise I have learned with working with the schools. Go in prepared. Know exactly what you want on your 504 plan. Type one up before you go. It is just a paper describing what your child needs. Make sure you put in absences so you don't fall under the Becca Bill. Here are some ideas that is helpful to include: extra time for work help on test if needed rest during school hours if needed to be notified if sickness is in class: chicken pox, fifths disease, etc. to share information with PE and Music teachers Emergency contact Note from your doctor( This always helps. Since immune deficiencies are not understood this will help the school to know you are not an over protective parent. THE GOOD NEWS: you only have to do this once. The 504 plan stays with your child as long as you live in the same school district. It will follow all the way through high school. It is easy to make any changes at any time once the 504 plan is in place. Hope this is helpful Lorri ( CVID 11)
