Hello all!

I have an Aunt who has a persistent cough she can't get rid of. She

has no idea what is causing it and neither do the doctors (She used to

be a nurse and is pretty well informed medically).

She eats pretty healthy though granted she isn't macro or veg.

She's had this cough for a year now, her lungs and sinus check out

just fine.

Any suggestions from the group?

lotus root is always wonderful for the lungs.

if it is dry it could be deficient yin of th elungs. this is not

uncommon esp in older people - but of any age

chinese medicine can be useful

if you have paul pitchofrds book healing with wholefoods there is a

good section on the lung under Metal

there are many nourishing herbs for the lungs - if the cough is dry

then demulcent herbs - marshmallow root, licorice, slippery elmm are

good.

cut down or out - dairy and eggs especially

Hi,

Have you considered some type of allergy or intolerance. Dust mites, cleaning products, perfumes etc. can all trigger an allergy response. My son had a cough and runny nose that turned out to be related to his intake of salicylates that was picked up by an allergist at a major teaching hospital near me (I'm in Australia). Under the supervision of the allergist and a dietician (who just happened to be vegetarian........Yah) we undertook an elimination diet and have been able to identify the foods that are a problem for him.

It may be worth considering allergy?

Another thought is that is may be a stress related cough?

Cheers

Trish
