I saw these instructions on my electrodes when I got them (I've been enjoying reading the warnings on electrodes for years, but these had some new points) and worried abou them for about 30 seconds until I started using them. I suppose a saline solution such as thosse used by saline electrodes would be the appropriate electrolyte solution if you really wanted to worry about it.

Cleaning the electrodes in hot (not boiling) water--even without Cidex--cleans them fine, and if you want to go further, clean the clean electrodes with an alcohol prep pad. Grass used to say never to use alcohol to clean electrodes, but I've been doing it by wiping--not soaking--for 15 years and good electrodes last a long tme and give very good signals.

Hi All~

A friend has bought silver electrodes and it comes with these instructions to do before you can use them.

"The enclosed product should be soaked in your normal electrolyte for 2 hours prior to first use to decrease popping and increase the quality of your recordings. We recommend cleaning using a solution of 10 parts water to 1 part Cidex Regular (not OPA) (or similar brand). For best results and longer life, DO NOT soak the electrodes in acetone, collodion remover or bleach and be careful not to scratch the recording surface with a sharp or abrasive object."

Does anyone know where to get these products so she can start using them? Thanks,

~
