I know you are so anxious and can't stop thinking of all this but you and Emma will get through her first cast. My daughter Allie just got her second cast this week so all the feelings you are having are very fresh in my memory. Emma will just amaze you on how quickly she will adjust! I assure you this new cast life is not bad at all, Allie really likes her cast and shows everyone. She actually cried she wanted it back on! Crazy to e even think they would cry for it! Well keep us posted and if you have anymore ?? you know we are all here for you.Amy J Mom to Allie(3) in second cast down to 14* in cast from 54* Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryDate: Sat, 13 Feb 2010 14:16:52 -0800 (PST)To: <infantile_scoliosis >Subject: Re: The big day is rapidly approaching - adviceneeded! ,Joan pretty much answered your questions, but I did want to add about the Poise pads. We did not need these until cast 4 or 5. had 6 casts, BUT they were such a lifesaver. We put them in more in the front, but for girls I would put in just like we ladies would wear a sanitary pad. Before we used the Poise pads we used Always brand pads......without the wings. They worked well, but as he got older I guess they just were not enough. I would have them on hand. Size on the Poise pads? I am not sure about size, but I got the in between thickness. Not too thin, but I know they were not super thick.Good luck and we will all be thinking about you. What you are feeling is completely normal and it soon will pass. The first cast isthe hardest. I think mostly because it is the unknown. Not that the others are a breeze, but you then know what to expect. Emma will AMAZE you!!!! Update when you can.**If you think of anything else let us know** TashaMommy of 4 year old twin boys- and Fort Worth, TexasSeries of 6 casts for 14 months and now in a night brace. is treated at Texas ish Rite Hospital. You can read 's story at....http://www.infantilescoliosis.org/stories.htmlFrom: bluescrap74<jennyhayymail>To: infantile_scoliosis Sent: Sat, February 13, 2010 12:25:35 PMSubject: The big day is rapidly approaching - advice needed! Only 4 days until Emma's first cast. I can't really think about anything else and I soooo nervous.I would love some advice about her crib. She just turned 2 and sleeps in a crib and loves her bed. Will I have trouble picking her up and out of it with the cast on? Her crib converts to a toddler bed with a little guard rail at the side. Would it be a good idea to convert it this weekend, get her used to it, so that she can get out of bed herself?Poise pads - where exactly do they do in the diaper. What size should i buy? What is aquaphor (am I spelling that correctly?) and mole skin. What are they for and where do I buy them?Any advice on what I should insist on being done to the cast by the professionals before we leave the hospital? She will be getting an over the shoulder cast.I'm sure that I will think of more but I would really appreciate your advice,
