Hey ..this is Angie also in Canada! and also have a son here on

Anafanil, clomipramine 50mg's

and I totally agree on the behaviour here at home is a 180, I wont say 360

cause he is still not back at school, but he had a thing with water,,dont

ever get it on him or near his head..even in the bath..he would " flip his

lid "

well near a month on Anafranil and guess where we were last night? The local

swimming pool, not just that, but guess who for the first time in their

entire life dunked his own head!!!

Angie

in saskatchewan

Anafranyl and School

about it anymore. It is a pure wonder drug for my son. He still has his

anxious behaviours that make him " odd " but the anxiety is at its lowest in

years and he just started on the 50mg dose he was to work up to.

>

> It is so amazing that I had to tell him yesterday that his brother was

being a brat and broke his fancy pen that the teacher gave him for behaving

in class and he said it was OK. No tears, no trying to strangle the life

out of his brother, no stomping, nothing. That isn't to say nothing gets to

him anymore but life is much calmer, more " normal " .

>

> He is still having trouble completing work at school though. Mostly from

not staying in his chair. I am going to have him assessed by an OT to see

if there is something she can suggest from a sensory angle. He probably

does still have some ADHD but I can't give him anything for that as they are

all stimulating and that is bad for him. Strattera isn't available in

Canada yet. Who knows when. Some of it is avoidance and some reassurance

seeking. The teacher tends not to allow reassurance seeking behaviour so he

visits his friends instead.

> I was thinking of this idea to suggest to his teacher. If she could try

and keep track of each say 10min. session he stays seated continuously

working, if he can do this a few times a day, I will reward him at home with

video game time, etc. We can increase the number of sessions or length of

time as he gains success. I don't know if that would be possible for the

teacher or not. I just find that focusing on completion of work in class

doesn't work for him. He finds completing things overwhelming. I have

tried this approach with cleaning his room and had great success. It isn't

clean to my standards but at least there isn't stuff all over the floor.

Great for your son Angie! Wow, that is a miraculous transformation. I hope

with time he can get back to school. Sounds like it is possible.

I think there is also a in Ottawa. I am in Toronto. Nice to hear from a

fellow Canadian.

Now if I could just get my son to stay in his chair at school.
