Guest guest
Traci, yes, her adenoids can stay swollen and infected (w/o fever) and be keeping her ears infected. I went through this with my daughter, who has a normal immune system! Also, she was in the hospital at the age of 13 months after a long history of the same ear infection that nothing but IM Rocephin would clear up. We went into the hospital after going to Ark. Childrens Hospital for a sinus CT, because the local ENT told me she was not old enough to have mastoids, and even if she was, they weren't infected. She had massive ear drainage that would be all over her bed and up in her hair every morning, and it was bloody. He didn't think a CT was warranted! She still couldn't walk either. Well, luckily because of brother's immune deficiency they sent her to Childrens, and the CT was done there. Guess what? Mastoids full of junk. They cultured the drainage and it grew out pseudomonis and strep pneumonia! And all of the immune studies were normal. My point.....she had her first sinus infection at 5 weeks, and first ear infection at 7 weeks. Allergic to about everything, milk and soy! Just like her brother, but her immune studies are always normal. At the age of 8, she can finally get over a cold on her own without medicine. She is still allergic to alot of foods, and about every tree and grass known to man. She has asthma that gets a little worse every year, but is normal immune wise. Maybe there is still hope for Syndi! I would have bet the farm she was at the very least IgG deficient, as would've the ped and immunologist! Good luck, and stick with your instincts! >From: Traaci10@... >Reply-To: PedPID >To: PedPID >Subject: Re: Responses & Update >Date: Sun, 29 Apr 2001 09:29:49 EDT > >hi sandra, > I am hoping an allergist can find something.
