Guest guest
We took our 4.5 month old son for a second opinion today. The doctor suggested we try active repositioning until our son is six months, afterwhich if there is no improvement perhaps banding will be best. He also suggested we see an osteopath for cranial sacral manipulation. Has any one had any experience with this? Also, where can I purchase the wedges etc used to assist with repositioning? Thank you for any help.
Guest guest
Our pt also used craniosacral therapy, and we felt that it was also very beneficial. Like other parents, we were a bit skeptical with this approach-when our pt first tried to use this for our son's tort, it looked like she was meditating and I was anxious to see hands on stretching. I'm glad I gave it a chance, she taught us exercises that we saw first hand working. I have only heard positive remarks about it. From what I understand, this process works with the fluid in the body, and in our case, we directed energy and used pressure points (minimal nickel weight pressure), I would liken it to accupuncture in some respect, minus the needles. Good luck seeking this out! I believe you can find the wedges in most baby stores- we got ours at babies r us- maybe you'll find it online. Guest guest
Hello and welcome to the group! Active repositioning can be an excellent form of treatment. It takes alot of work, but we have moms and dads in this group who have had some great success with repositioning. We also have some people who have used cranial sacral therapy and have loved it. Hopefully some of them will respond to you regarding that. You can check out our bookmarks section for some links to webpages that carry repositioning products. You can also check out www.plagiocephaly.org/support - there is a link there to repositioning techniques. Best of luck with that - at 4.5 months hopefully repositioning will be effective. It's good to know that you can still use a band if you don't feel you've seen enough improvement. Make sure you take lots of pictures so you have something to judge improvement from on down the line.
