Guest guest
Oh, Kim, that's interesting. The ocd isn't causing the 'brain white noise' but the ocd is causing dd's reaction to it (over-reaction). I'll bet if I explain that to her, it'll help her forget about it. Thanks. BTW, my 11 yo dd (who is not ocd -- I don't think!) can go on like that about her colds and various aches and pains. I know how you feel. I'm always thinking, " OK, we get it!! Live with it like everyone else! " Mo re. random thoughts Maybe our kids have trouble ignoring any of these things (like ocd) and get stuck easier. My son has a cold right now and he can't just ignore it. We need to hear all about the intricacies of his swallowing and the pain therein. He sits there and hyperfocuses on how his ears are clicking and his temples feel clamped and oh! I want to scream! He just can't drop it - like he can't drop sounds he hears, thoughts that enter his head etc. etc. Maybe it's all on the same continuum or something? Someone called it 'perseverative disorder' and it's the best description I've heard yet. The doctors look like I'm crazy when I call it that (wasn't in their textbooks) but it's SO accurate. kimz
