Guest guest
Hi , That is wonderful news! Congrats on the new job! You will have to keep us posted on all the events that take place. I know the busy part, I am so busy myself that I havent been on here as well. But I will be soon. Hugs. Nola -- Update Hello everyone, It has been a while since I visited (and participated) in the group. It was nice to come here again and read your lovely and positive messages. There has been a lot going on in my life lately. The best thing is the fact that I just landed myself a job at a holistic coaching and training center. I am going to be at the reception, prepare classes, do a little pr etc. so I am very happy at the moment in my life. I have missed you and even though things are going to be a bit busy for me now I will still try and come here to read the messages.
Guest guest
Thank you so much Di!! Update Hi Everyone, I wanted to send an update on me, my house & my workouts. First, thank you to everyone for your kindness about our flood and about me not being around lately. The water disaster recovery company has done great drying up the water with dehumidifiers. They'll be finished tomorrow afternoon. We are going to have to completely redo our bathroom that we had almost finished redoing... at least this time I guess the insurance company will be helping us pay for it. That really, really upset me at first but I'm just thankful the damage wasn't worse. There's one large section of our basement ceiling that needs to be replaced and another smaller (but still big) section that will probably also have to be fixed but at least it is dry now, so no mold. The insurance adjuster is coming out Friday afternoon so I'll know better then what we're doing. I've been working a lot, hanging out with the kids as much as possible too and we had a slew of parties, including my step-sister's wedding the last few weekends and I had to do a lt of preparing for the wedding (getting a dress, getting it altered, making sure the kids had clothes for it, buying a gift, etc.). Obviously, we don't get out much! ;-) We're also planning a vacation for August and I'd been doing tons of research trying to get a decent hotel for a really good price, etc. We haven't vacationed in a few years so this is a huge thing for us. I've got a motel booked, now I'm praying it is as decent as it sounds. Gotta figure out how much the tourist activities we want to do will cost and which options/deals we'd be best off doing next. Miriam's sweet exercise chart for me had been rather bare but this week, despite, or maybe because of, the craziness, I did kick it into gear a bit better and managed to earn 4 stickers (for 4 workouts)! I had no plan, just did what appealed to me at the moment. Here's what I did: Wednesday: Amy Dixon Women's Health Total Workout in Ten! I did all 4 of the workouts. I've only done this once before and will have to do it again soon. Even though the workouts are all separate, she moves fast between them, no time for resting and that was great. Friday: The FIRM Jiggle Free Arms. I didn't have much energy but I wanted to work hard yet not kill myself and even though I'd only done this once or twice before, I didn't remember it being too tough and it was only 30 minutes. It was a little more challenging than I'd remembered but definitely doable. I got totally messed up on some of the step aerobics even though they were very simple routines and definitely attributed that to fatigue but I still enjoyed it and felt good to have gotten something in. This was before the flood but after an early morning yearly mammogram (all good, thankfully). Saturday: Hadn't planned to do anything since I usually don't on weekends but spontaneously decided to do some yoga after reading some of your yoga reports (I've been lurking a little, haven't felt much like posting lately). I tried doing some kind of yoga for anxiety routine from Yoga for Stress Relief but the 50 minute routine started with I have no idea how many minutes of just different breathing (for stress relief) exercises. I was antsy to move and the breathing exercises were making me much more anxious than when I'd started!! She (Barbara Benagh?) even says, often, these are more likely to make you more anxious than feel good at first! She says if you keep with it you'll see results but I did NOT have the patience at all and took it out after about 10 minutes. I put in Yoga for Every Body and did a 30 minute practice, can't remember which one, something about grounding I think, it was new to me. I LOVED it! It wasn't quite as active as I thought I wanted but it had a hand sequence, a foot sequence, that weird eye sequence and also some more active stuff with down dog combined with some poses I hadn't done before but enjoyed. The only problem was trying to enjoy the relaxation pose at the end with HUGE dehumidifiers right outside my little workout room (which thankfully has a door), my kids playing a VERY loud game on the Wii in that same area and the two of them just being plan loud (I guess they had to compete with the dehumidifiers). I gave up after a minute or two. I absolutely was not able to lay still, relax and focus at that point but I still enjoyed the rest of the yoga session. Sunday (today): More spontaneous exercise. DH and DD were going to go for a bike ride after dinner (her biking, him walking because us adults don't have bikes) and I told them to grab the big kid couch potato who does like to ride bikes. Since all 3 of them were going and it was a nice but warm evening I figured I had to go with them. The couch potato gave up after about 20 minutes or so but the little one wanted to keep going so DH and I went with her and ended up walking 50 minutes! It mighg have been too much for him, we'll see tomorrow, but we decided we need to do more walking so he can build up some endurance for the vacation next month (lots of walking). Miriam is going to make him an exercise chart too! :-) I'm not sure what is up for tomorrow. I work all morning and the water recovery guys will be here in the afternoon so it might be a walk in the evening, if we don't have the thunderstorms they're predicting or the close to 100 degree temps. Will try to post it if I do it. Thanks for reading this anyone who did, I know it is long!!
Guest guest
I'm writing this knowing I can't send it for a couple of days but it is helping me feel accountable to reflect on my workouts and plans. My computer modem died out of nowhere Saturday afternoon and our new one won't arrive for at least a few days so I'll try to catch up with emails when I have time. I didn't work out Saturday or Sunday but am okay with that, I needed the rest. In fact, Sunday I was so tired I took a three hour nap instead of working out and it was a good thing to do. I'd been like a zombie at our town's fall festival Saturday after work. Monday I did the 20 minute cardio only premix from Cathe's Boot Camp. I've done the entire Boot Camp workout once but was totally unprepared for how intense it would be to do one cardio segment after another from this workout. I did manage to do almost everything in all of the segments but had to walk around an extra minute or so before I could sit down for the stretch to get my heart rate lower. I felt great about my efforts. After that I did the first ab workout from Austin's Hit the Spot Abs. There are three workout and each is 10 minutes long. I have this on VHS and it was a virgin too. The workout was pretty good. Not as hard as FIRM Abs but a better level for me right now I think. Tuesday was Shape Bikini Body Camp Transforming Workout Sculpt Plus. Wheeler leads with Dozois showing beginner modifications and York also as a backgrounder. I did this only one other time, over a year ago, and didn't remember it at all. I really enjoyed it a lot this time! It was total body in 30 minutes. There are a lot of compound moves and some balance moves. Not overly tough but definitely challenging with heavy enough weights. Wednesday's workout almost got derailed with 2 hours on the phone with AT & T about the modem they didn't order and changes to our service. They ended up talking us into upgraded service but at a lower price, a free modem, $ off our bill for the time without internet access and $200 Visa gift card if we keep the service for some amount of time! Sounds good, I hope it turns out that way! Anyway, I had VERY little time so I threw in 10 Minute Solution Carb Burner and did "Slow & Steady Burn" as hard as I could. Then I did the 2nd workout off the Austin abs tape. It was not as interesting as the first and not too difficult but okay. Today is Thursday and I was sure I wouldn't get a workout in until after dinner tonight (a time I hate for workouts) but the health fair I was working this morning ended earlier than expected and I was able to run home, get right into my workout clothes and do Total Body Toning from Weight Watchers Next Moves for 20 minutes. I've only done this once and didn't remember it except that I knew it was all compound moves and some balance work. Dozois is alone and in 20 minutes she hits most body parts except abs. It moved fast but controlled. I thought with the speed and compound moves I'd need lighter weights and found myself picking up heavier ones midway through. She does one set of 8-16 reps for each body part then goes through the whole thing again but adds on new challenges to the original exercises. It was good. Not WOW great but very good. Now I'm waiting for AT & T to show up and install my new modem & other stuff. They are supposed to be here between 1 & 3 and I rushed to get a fast workout and shower in before 1, so of course, they'll probably be here closer to 3! We'll see, it is only 1:40. With any luck, I'll be finally sending this later today!

Guest guest
Oh my goodness, big hugs Carolyn. If you can afford some natural anti-inflammatories that my do better for your body. I know that fish oil is supposed to be a mild anti-inflammatory but there are other natural forms out there that you may want to try too. Vennitta hi everyone - well i went to my phsio appt on friday morning but he couldnt do anything because i was having too much pain. he told me to see my dr rght away for pain medication. he was also concerned because my right arm and hand are numb. fingers tingling. so i called the dr from the physio office and got an appt for a few hours later. she said that i have a pinched nerve in my upper back and gave me a script for muscle relaxer and naproxen. $75 !! eek! i dont find either pill to be strong or to be very effective, but i dont feel excurciating pain at the moment so maybe they need a couple of days to kick in... i havent worked out or even walked the dog lately... sorry jen! hopefully i will feel better next week. i have to save myself for work in the deli on mon, tues and wed. may have to rest on thurs. im supposed to have physio again on fri so hopefully this injury will be better by then. :*carolyn.
