My sons titers were 6 times the necessary amount when we drew the blood. There is a thing called herd immunity. My children are not fully vaccinated and I believe they are protected. I had my done by Dr. Tanner at Southern Environmental Medicine in Lawrenceville. (My Ped. couldn't do it at her office). Anyway, it's a simple blood test. It will tell you if your child already has immunity or not. My autistic daughter's titers test measured 7 times above the amount needed for immunity. Dr. Tanner told me that this is common among autistic children. Dr. Tanner also wrote me a letter to give to her school. Doing this test may give you the peace of mind you need to make an informed decision. If the titers is within or above the limits needed then your child does not need another shot anyway. Currently the CDC only lists AIDS as the only immune disfunction that someone shouldn't get vaccinated. However, there is a large percentage of mothers of autistic kids who have autoimmune diseases. Personally my children will not receive anymore traditional vaccines. I will use homeopathic vaccines to protect them. Something I was reading stated that homeopathic vacs are as effective without any side effects. However, I am still looking for confirmation of those claims. There are supposedly studies on the subject (probably european). I came to this determination since reading Dr. Shaw's book (Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD) it classifies the "highly vulnerable children who shouldn't be immunized" as: History of seizures or other neuro diseases (in child or member of immediate family) History of severe allergies ("") History of allergy to components used in vaccines such as eggs, gelatin, casein, or thimerosal Prematurity or low birth weight chronic illness or a recent severe illness A parent or sibling with a vaccine reaction Previous severe reaction to a vaccination In our family my twin girls and (any subsequent) would have a yes to all to these circumstances. In addition, I have autoimmune diseases and heavy metal accumulations as well along with yeast. My mother does too and so did my fathers mother so the things that setup the dominos seem to be genetic but I think it still needs a catalyst to knock over the dominos. That may be vaccinations or toxic exposures or both. The most problematic vaccination for my daughter was the MMR which doesn't contain mercury. If you do decide that traditional vaccines are what is best for your children... Insist on mercury free. Also, it is best to give them seperately no MMR or DPT DPaT etc. give one at a time and pick and choose the ones that you really feel the risk of the disease far outweighs the risk of side effects. Also, do NOT rely on the reaction stats from the CDC as they only represent the number of cases that won their vaccine injury case. Obviously not everyone even realizes it was a vaccine reaction let alone files a claim and then WINS their case! Do your research... Hep B is only going to be helpful MUCH later in life (once your child grows up and decides to be promiscous, an IV drug user, or homosexual etc.) Now if you happen to have Hep B or God forbid your child is a hemapheliac and will have numerous blood transfussions than maybe it'd worthwhile. Recently there have been questions regarding Chicken Pox and whether a booster is needed as an adolescent. Currently they aren't giving boosters but adolescent and even adult Chicken Pox is on the rise and is a lot more deadly than in children. It is very sad that we can't trust what our government is telling us about vaccines and childhood illnesses but we should all get educated before not after they are given when it may be too late. In end this remains one of the touchiest and complex subjects. You just feel like you make the best decision you know how then pray you're right.
