I was scared about trying the IMGG. I'm not a needle person but luckily my mom

(who used to be an R.N.) is here, though she doesn't like having to give shots

to her grandson! The needle is big, the GG thick and Ammon (5 years old)

screams over it, but he doesn't fuss or struggle very long now. It's nice that

it's only every three weeks- that's one blessing.

We never used Kutapressin but have been using BayGam since this last October

with no problems. Ammon really started using the potty (without #1 accidents)

since November and I think it might be related to the IMGG. We're still working

with #2.

The injection hurts a lot more than Kutapressin. Larger and longer needle

and more medicine that is slightly viscous. With Kutapressin, we didn't

really need to use EMLA cream, but with BayGam we chose to use it - we put

it on a good 1-11/2 hours before hand to let it absorb as deep as possible.

We have our local Dr do it - saves me being the bad guy and also for piece

of mind given that it is a blood product, larger needle etc. Compliance for

the procedure has improved greatly, and while we get wincing before and a

little yelp, a nice reward for being brave at the end helps.

We have not seen any bad reactions or negative side effects in 2 years.

hope this helps,

best wishes with it

My son will have his first BayGam (IMGG) injection next week. Could

anyone who has used this already with their child let me know how

painful these are? The Kutapressin injection didn't bother my son at

all, but I've heard this injection takes a larger needle.

Also, the pharmacy company we ordered this from said they were also

sending Epi pens along in case there was a bad reaction. Has anyone

experienced bad reactions or negative side effects? Dr. G's office

didn't mention this possibility. Possibly it is just a precaution,

but it made me nervous. Any input is appreciated?
