Guest guest
That was this morning's, 5:45 AM workout. I did NOT want to work out this morning but I was having lunch with my dad after work and I knew there was no way I'd get in a workout if I didn't do it first thing this morning so I did it. I did not enjoy it either and it wasn't just the eyes barely open time. I did this once before, a couple of years ago and I know why I haven't done it again. And this time, I made notes in my spreadsheet so I can avoid it in the future. If I didn't like at least one of the 3 workouts on this DVD, it would be gone just because of this one. There are 3 segments in this 30 minute workout, each about 7 or 8 minutes long. Wheeler does kickboxing for the first segment with late and confusing cueing and no obvious warm-up (which I really needed this morning too). Dozois then leads a not very enjoyable toning section that mostly uses a band and also light weights and then York does a cardio/toning segment that uses body weight and up to 5 lbs (I used 3s) and the stretch. 's section was best and it was good but I probably won't use this workout often or again because I did not like the first two and it doesn't make senseto me to spend the time searching for just her part for a few minutes of work. I also finally realized that when the other instructors make comments during a workout, as they do in this and the others on this DVD, they aren't dumb comments or whooping but actually, they sound like they're part of an infomercial! "Yeah, , I'm still working hard even though I'm modifying the moves to fit my needs." (or whatever they say). They're commenting in response to questions or just putting it out there out of nowhere but it is very infomercial-like which, though it sounds weird as I'm hearing it, I noticed it doesn't bug me much (whereas the seemingly spontaneous but probably rehearsed whooping in many workouts does). I've seen this in some of 's workouts too but often in those it is even more informercial-like because they don't sound sincere. In these, they actually make sense in the context and add some value or useful information.
