Guest guest
, Funny you should say that. My daughter has OCD, but my friend has a son with adhd and they told her the same... cut out the sugar and exercise him. My daughters 2nd therapist said I should get her on an exercise program as well. Meanwhile, that is the only thing this therapist suggested! I think these doctors should experience a child with this diagnosis before they give advice! I keep thinking, my daughter doesn't have an obesity problem, she has an obsessive compulsive disorder! Lets give her something else to obsess over... that will cure it! Cheri
Guest guest
, Sorry you had to go through that. It is funny in a sad sort of way! I'm sorry you're so stressed! When I'm under stress - and sometimes I don't even realize I am - I tend to clench/clamp my teeth at night and my teeth & jaw are sore and stiff the next a.m. I have to do " jaw stretching " exercises before I go to sleep to help relax my muscles or whatever; it helps. I've been clenching lately and am putting off going to the dentist since all my teeth hurt right now. At least it's not OCD stress right now causing it. You're get there too, in time! Hmmm...perhaps someone else here has some good ideas for you since you apparently are out of luck with getting any medication to help! Better luck next try! I'll post if I think of anything. > > Hi, > My son is beginning to resist our homestyle exposure therapy as we > have now hit all the " tough " things. Guest guest
I don't htink we can mention names on this site. We had our daughter casted last week at Shriner's in Philidelphia and all has gone wonderful. Email me privately and we can talk more in details. stefv@... Stefanie Subject: doctorsTo: infantile_scoliosis Date: Wednesday, December 16, 2009, 6:44 PM This is Drue's mom. Some have suggested we travel to Chicago Shriner's hospital to have a Mehta dr. I found out that the dr. we are using at Children's Hospital, was trained by Dr. Sturm, of Chicago, whom is Metha trained. We are happy, so far, with our dr. Would any of you feel confident enough using a dr, trained by a dr, trained by Mehta; or would you still travel to Sturm? Hope this isn't too confusing

Guest guest
I would absolutely see a doctor trained by a Mehta trained doctor. There is more to the procedure then just knowing the technique though. I think there is skill involved and the longer they have done it and more experienced the better results they may get, especially in tough cases. I would want to see how many kids he has treated, their outcomes and how their curves and spines have compared to your child's spine. You can also ask him to be very honest with you about the progress and if at some point he is not happy with it that you are referred elsewhere. I would also make sure they despite the fact that they are Mehta trained that they are following the technique correctly. If you are happy with his answers then I would absolutely see him.
