Hi Everyone~

was casted on January 12th at the Chicago Shriners. Out of cast his curve is 52 degrees and in cast it is 8 degrees! The Dr. told us that is really flexible, which I'm assuming is due to the hypotonia. I have to say casting isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I guess being pessimistic paid off this time! I was worried about the plane ride, diapering, anesthesia, this and that, but really it's not that bad. I think it's definitely harder on you than it is on them.

He's adjusting really well to the cast. The same day he was casted he was running around. He is having trouble with getting up off the floor without pulling up on something. And he falls flat on his face at least twice a day, but I think it's because he's not use to being top heavy. The only other problem we are having is the cast seems to be too high under his armpits, and the one side of his neck is irritated from the shoulder strap. Any suggestions?

This whole process has been so emotional. I'm happy, grateful, & angry for so many different reasons. Happy because we finally found a Dr. I have 100% confidence in. Grateful that by chance I just happened to find ISOP. Grateful I found a group of people who "get it". Angry for not being informed about casting from 5 different orthopedic Dr's. And just like many of you we were told to "watch and wait". I just have to put the past in the past and enjoy my family. Thank you all for your support and advice!

Jen~ Mom to 2 years old

2nd cast is scheduled for April 6th
