Ah SHOOT! I'm so sorry about your foot! Is it a sprain? The good thing about race fees is that they often go to a really good cause, and that race was for a great cause. It sucks if you can't go, though. I know how that feels.  Enjoy your rest day, girl.

That sword class sounds like a blast, though.

Wow, what a FUN morning!  I was stretching in Studio 3 when Lori came in and said, " Hi Babe! "   and can you imagine my sheer delight when she brought in SWORDS with her???  They weren't plastic swords either, they were real, metal swords of various shapes and sizes!  Apparently the older routines used them, and since the new release isn't til 2 weeks from now we are revisiting older ones.  My favorite part was the Mission Impossible song - the punches went right with the music.  OMG I so looooooove this class!  She told me I should teach it and said she'd hook me up, but I'm enjoying not teaching, actually, plus I'm uber broke and can't afford the cert, the AFAA etc.  Lori just has the most phenomenal energy!  Next week I'm going to get my pic taken with the sword and I'll share it with y'all.

I gulped down a protein shake afterward and headed to the pool for Aqua Fit.  I was the only person under 75 there except for one other woman and another woman who weighed over 400 lbs.  I met some new friends at the pool - Margaret, Sylvia, and Verla.  The music was what you might imagine, we had, Louie Louie, Wooly Booly, Mony Mony and She'll have fun fun fun til her Daddy took her T-Bird Away, among others.  We all did the " YMCA " dance in the pool.

Sylvia informed me that I should go further down in the pool next time because the late comers all conglomerate all at the one end.  Too funny.  I could tell they were all curious about me.  There were around 22 people in the pool but less than half that at Group Kick.  This is a senior citizen gym and they hold Aqua Aerobics every day M-St at 10:00 and it's very popular there.  I was definitely in the Silver Sneakers crowd today at the pool!  They were a hoot!

I'm not sure I'll be doing this one every Saturday.  It was fun but I can make better use of my time swimming laps.  I think next Saturday instead I will take Group Centergy, which is like Les Mills Body Balance/Flow (yoga).

I tried the steam room once again after Aqua Fit and DANG these seniors are HARD CORE with the fucking eucalpytus oil!  I got an instant sinus headache after under a minute and had to leave.  Alas, I am injured.  *% & $*#!~!!  The bone beneath the big ankle bone is 3x the size of the other one and hurts.  It hurts to walk on it.  I'm pissed because I paid over $100 for the Run Like Hell Half and am not sure I will able to run in my half marathon in 2 weeks.  I will have to stay off my foot and that really bums me out.   Group Kick doesn't have a ton of impact but I did take out the jumps in a couple of parts.  It's been bugging me for a few days but I must have exacerbated it in class.

When I left, at the front desk said, " Bye ! " and the other woman who I think was the Aqua instructor, , said, " It was nice meeting you! " .  People there are very friendly.

Tomorrow is my first rest day in about a week.  I'll be cheering on my friend, Sam who is running the Portland Marathon about Mile 20. Praying it doesn't rain!!

Oh, nothing as bad as a sprain, thank goodness!  It's like the little ankle bone under the big inside ankle bone is swollen.  I've got ice on it right now.  On a side note - my back and biceps today are VERY sore from yesterdays Sweat Shop workout.  I love it when I can kick my own butt. I only have 2 more sessions with Noel and then I'm on my own for a long time, as I'm very broke at the moment.  So when I can make myself sore I feel good.

I'm also looking forward to spending more time at Cascade, using their weight room floor, swimming laps in the pool, and taking more classes there but  mostly Group Kick.  Group Kick is offered 3x a week when I am available to take it.

Enough of me. , what are the next steps for you?  Wait things out a few weeks and see what happens?Hugs,

Oh, I'm glad it's not a sprain! It sounded like one because of the swelling.  You're wise to rest it., I think you're going to be able to make yourself really sore on your own using the great equipment at your new gym. It sounds like they've got the very best gear there.

Well, for me, there's a procedure, but I'm waiting to see if this takes care of itself. The doctor said it would be fine to wait a month.

Okay... well here's to a restful month for you.  I am really, really hoping this goes away.  I know you don't want to hear this, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway.  Would you consider taking animal protein?  Just til you get through this in case it helps?  I loved being a vegan and could easily do it again, but I do notice I'm not as sick as much and heal faster since I've been eating meat again.  Sometimes the body just needs animal protein, I think.

That said - I do feel horribly guilty about eating meat and contributing to the cause of suffering of sentient beings, so I appreciate your position too. Hugs

Thank you, but that one is absolutely out of the question for me. I am not offended that you have suggested it, but even if I thought it would speed things up, I cannot stomach it.

Thank you, but that one is absolutely out of the question for me. I am not offended that you have suggested it, but even if I thought it would speed things up, I cannot stomach it.

Okay... well here's to a restful month for you.

Hugs

I wish you could come to Michigan next summer and take the water exercise class with Rene, she is the BEST water exercise instructor I've ever seen! I think you would like her and I'm sure she would be better than the Aqua Fit instructor you had. I know it won't challenge you as much as swimming laps but I think you would be impressed. I think you should just do upper body exercises this week and see how you ankle feels at the end of the week.I know you pain! JenFrom: Pink Pussycat

You are so funny ! The eucalyptus people and your thoughts about them are hysterical. I like the smell of eucalyptus and even like it as a tea but it sounds like what they do is too much for even me.

That sucks about your ankle. I may have missed your post telling us what happened but it sounds like you should go aqua for the next few days at least (meaning going low impact may be too much right now). Try not to jump up and down when cheering on your friend.

Vennitta - the worry wort.

Tomorrow is my first rest day in about a week.  I'll be cheering on my friend, Sam who is running the Portland Marathon about Mile 20. Praying it doesn't rain!!

Hugs, thanks Vennitta!  Not sure how I hurt my foot, I think I did it running but made it worse by kickboxing?  Anyway I'm angry about it, so yes, low impact til the race more than likely with swimming and mindless cardio machines.  I may have to even give up Group Kick next Saturday (sniff, sniff).

I'll let you know if the steam room ever becomes odorifically tolerable;  I like eucalyptus too but I'm telling you why sniff paint thinner when you can go to the steam room at the gym and get a stiff hit there?

You are so funny ! The eucalyptus people and your thoughts about them are hysterical. I like the smell of eucalyptus and even like it as a tea but it sounds like what they do is too much for even me.

That sucks about your ankle. I may have missed your post telling us what happened but it sounds like you should go aqua for the next few days at least (meaning going low impact may be too much right now). Try not to jump up and down when cheering on your friend.
