Guest guest
As most of you know I have been in search of a new endo. The endo I was/am with is just way too laid back for what I need. I think once you have more issues than just the normal hypo signs, he is unable to help. Why they just don't admit when they DON'T know? Anyway, I have an appointment set up with Dr. Sarlis over at MD . I got the results from a FNA that many have told me needs another look. I did get that second opinion from a Dr. that only looked at the results and said that he totally respects the opinion of the Pathologist that read the results. (always scratch out the names on the tests results for that reason) Well off to my third opinion with Dr. Sarlis. Before he would even consider seeing me, I had to send him most of my tests and lab results. He then had a few days to go over the information before they called back to make an appointment for me to see him on December 10th. I had to call the two different labs that had my FNA glass slides specimens, to have them send the results to MD . So far I am very impressed with their action at MD . I have no idea what kind of endo Dr. Sarlis will be like? I am hoping he prescribes Armour, and generously! I will keep you all up dated. But most importantly, I want to thank Jan for taking the time to contact people from other groups who have urged me to get second, and even third opinions. Guest guest
I wish I could recommend MD , but I don't know yet! All I know is that they want to see everything that I have had done in the past. Including the MRI I had done on my head and neck to see why I had that one migraine. Getting the glass slides, and the MRI was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Just one call. I'd love to call up and ask the Dr. a few questions before I go in, like do you prescribe Armour? But from my experience, they must be really busy there, because it takes well of 24 hours for the nurse/assistant to call back. Plus, I don't want to overstay my welcome! I don't want them to fire me before I even go in. So I guess I will have to wait and see what happenes. Does anyone have any suggestions before I go. Like, how I should prepare for this visit? What type of questions I should be asking? I don't want to botch this opinion like I did the second. Thanks, LYNN At 08:47 AM 11/17/2004, you wrote: Good Luck Lynn, let me know what you think of him. My friend who works at MD has been urging me for the last year or two to try to get in there for a second/third opinion on my thyroid and pituitary issues. Someday I just may due that. Right now I am still in my " doctored out " phase. But if your appt goes well, then I'll have to see about gathering up all my scans, MRI's, FNA's and stuff and getting in. Guest guest
From everything I've learned about endos over the past yr and a half, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack for one who knows anything about the thyroid, and even if he/she did, they might sell out your body in order to remain in good standing with the pharmaceutical companies. I'd rather run a bet on a family doctor, general practitioner, internal medicine person, or a D.O. I bet I'd win that bet. I just don't have the money to go running all over the country doing the trial and error thing. My money is precious, and I'm not giving it away by the handfuls to any and everybody, plus there isn't much of it, so I have to give everything extreme forethought. My forethought is that, unless I need a thyroid scan, MRI, or some such other thing, I trust myself more, after all the disappointments in doctors that I've had. Re: Dr visit Your endo does not have to Rx your thyroid meds. Get your PCP to do that.
