I had a local food chef tell me once that if I ever saw a Sysco truck parked

behind his restaurant.... " Just shoot me! " he said. I thought it was pretty

funny. As it turns out I've actually been in the inner sanctum of Sysco myself

and found, to my surprise, that they are truly NOT " De Debbil " at all, but just

a " corporate trucking company " , probably one of the most efficient trucking

companies in the US. They will carry anything on their trucks, even ORGANIC!

TRUE STORY: Several years ago the University of MN wanted our Thousand Hills

products in one of their cafeterias (I wish it were ALL of them!) but the only

way to get it there was through an " approved vendor " of which we were not ever

going to be one. Guess who was? So the application process began and before

long Sysco trucks were delivering our 100% Grass fed Gourmet beef to the U of M!

After that, we thought " what the heck! " let's be an exhibitor at the HUGE annual

Sysco Annual Vendor Food Show, so we did! I can tell you stories for hours of

all the scary food I saw during these events. Also all the funny story of people

seeing our home-grown beef booth... Me there was like Alice disappearing down

the rabbit hole!

I saw a 500+ pound man selling, what? Glazed Donuts! No one batted an eye! I

saw a back food prep room with a ROW of deep fat fryers, maybe 12 in all! And

all were boiling oil all day long. One vender-booth called " WHOLESOME FARMS "

intrigued me so I walked up and said to the vendor " What makes your farm

'wholesome'? " .... He looked me right in they eye and said

proudly....'MARKETING... " . Holy Moley! Have I died and am in in HELL??????

Sadly, I saw many 4 x 6 foot rolling garbage carts FILLED to the brim with demo

food at the end of each day. Filled! Large whole cakes, whole pies, large

salmon, roasts, piles of steaks, baked goods, big cheeses, loaves of bread,

cheesecakes, mountains of deep-fried shrimp, chicken wings, onion rings,

vegetables, fruit, and more. All this beautiful-looking, expensive (cheap),

toxic, kill-ya, food, tossed at the end of the day! As I said, many stories.

But, really, what it all boils down to is that no one can blame Sysco for what

goes into those trucks. They are rolling every day, filled with death-trip

" food-like' items for one reason and one reason alone.... this is what Americans

are choosing to eat!

Change that and the Sysco truck will be filled with the best food in the world!

How about that? Start today! We are having a SLOW SATURDAY at Ye Olde

Warehouse! Come down and buy some non-Sysco food and cheer us up!
