Guest guest
So glad to hear there were not any new findings on the MRI. Regarding the cast... I would just call the airlines and ask them and then when you check your bags in tell them up front what is inside one of the suitcases. Hopefully they will understand, but with security as heightened as it is lately, I wouldn't be surprised if they ask you a lot of questions. Good luck.. Maybe just ship it to yourselves via ups instead.. just a thought Joanmom to Hayden 343 degrees down from 62Cast number 3Treated at ish Rite Hospital Dallas, TX To: infantile_scoliosis Sent: Wed, February 17, 2010 7:19:38 PMSubject: cast in suitcase? Strange question- we took Bex's last cast number 5 (cut off Monday) with us are may save it. It's his red Santa Mouse cast and doesn't smell bad at all, it's kind of cute. I wrote "I heart Mom" with marker like a tattoo on his right back shoulder strap Christmas Day... Anyhow, I'm rambling- we are pretty exhausted. We heard the MRI showed no new signs, but the radiologist is not in today at Shriners. All we know is that the Syrinx cyst is still there, but can't be measured until tom. AM- so we won't know 'til then if it is the same size as a year ago. We have a 7 AM arrival time tom. and if all goes as planned, fly home Fri. Has anyone taken their old cast home on a flight in a checked bag? Any problems with security? We always tell them about Bex's cast on his body and they swab him quickly at the detectors for explosives-crazy, I know, but they are very nice to us. Just don't want Nick's bag to get held up on a later plane if the old cast scares folks...any thoughts? Thanks! Guest guest
Hi, We've not flown with an old cast, but have recently made a couple of flights with a Providence brace in a carry-on bag. There were no problems. We didn't have to tell them anything about it since he wasn't wearing it, and they had no questions. I would think that a cast in a checked bag would not set off any alarms, but you could call your airline to ask and also look at the TSA website beforehand for the best info. Good luck! Guest guest
Thank you! It does look very "medical". Our son got a full sized football as a gift on this trip, my husband Nick may stick the football inside it to save bag space : ) Heidi, Bexon's Mama, (2 yrs 7 mos....about to get cast 6 tomorrow) To: infantile_scoliosis Sent: Wed, February 17, 2010 6:40:46 PMSubject: Re: cast in suitcase?
