Hey !

It was me who wanted to write to Oprah. I've been dealing

with medication woes, and am not exactly on top of my game. Feel

free to email me to my home email address so we can collaborate.

I would love that.

It's all frightening enough to me to have made me self medicate with Armour.

I can think of plenty of things that I probably may not have the knowledge

to self medicate for, but I just won't ever let ANYone else have dominion

over me for THIS one any more. It scared me to death during both of my hypo

daughters' pregnancies because I just don't trust doctors, when it comes to

this. And they BOTH have 10 lb babies every single time, with C sections

for both. We know what this is, don't we?

No, neither one was ever diagnosed with that, but both are hypo. They are both treated with Synthroid, and both have constant complaints of depression. The one who is married and doesn't live with me has many symptoms that she complains about, including brain fog, inability to concentrate, weight that won't come off even with workouts at the gym 3 times a week, plus Weight Watchers protocol, headaches, and all that beautiful hair she has is starting to thin thin thin. Both of them also have horrible periods, with cramps, bloating, etc., etc.......But I get a wall eyed look, if I bring up any info on their thyroids or Armour. The thing is that it has also affected their children during pregnancy. I strongly believe that. The big babies are from understreated hypo.

No, no diabetes, just both of them hypo, under/wrong treated. My pregancies weren't like this, but I don't believe that I had thyroid disease until after all my pregnancies were done. Both of these young women were diagnosed at age 23 and age 20, so they were considerably younger than me, therefore were hypo during their pregnancies. The middle daughter who doesn't live with me has had 3 babies over 10 lbs. It's the hypo. As I said, they both wall their eyes at me, if I mention all of these things being related to the wrong thyroid treatment, yet they both feel terrible and have all these ailments.

How funny that you should mention this . I was an 8 lb, 11 oz baby, myself......and my first son was 8 lbs, 10 oz when he was born in 1976. In 1983 I had a tubal pregnancy, and 1986, my second and last son. Last son weighed in at 10 lbs, 3 oz, 21 3/4 inches long, and was a C-section (my first). I had to take Iron supplements because of anemia with the last. Dr told me if I wanted to try for a third, I could have an 11 pounder easy? I laughed vowing to not have anymore kids. Is this gestational diabetes that causes such large babies?

A friend of mine who's hypoT and taking Synthroid, along with diabetes meds, has a pregnant dr who is bleeding at 29 weeks into the pregnancy, and yet they can't find anything wrong? Even though they know this girls mother is hypoT and diabetic, there haven't been any testing done on the daughter who is in a panic over this new situation and no diagnosis. They instead referred her to a Psych Consult? Medical care truly sucks in my opinion. No wonder so many of us self medicate with Armour. I am in that position also.
