Dr. Sherman is with MD , right?

I have an appointment to see Dr. Sarlis on Jan 8th.

How did you find out you have thyroid cancer, and why did you

go to MD ?

I have a few questions about my upcoming visit to MD .

I'd be interested to know how you like it there, and your over

all experience.

Thanks, LYNN

Delana, I have been very pleased with my GP in Clear Lake. Her name is Kathy Hansen, and she's on Highway 3 right off Bay Area Blvd:

She takes Armour herself, and prescribes it very enthusiastically to many of her patients. They've all had wonderful success, especially those fighting infertility. She says that many patients trying to get pregnant for years get pregnant the very first month on Armour...and she is one of those, herself!

She is already on our list. But it is good to get some more feedback about her. Does she test/treat adrenals and/or sex hormones? Does she understand antibodies? Will she treat by symptoms even when the numbers are normal?" K." wrote:

I've only seen her twice, so I can't answer all that, sorry. I have mainly seen her for other things, but she switched me to Armour, and I do think I'm feeling better....even though my numbers were very good on Synthroid.

Hi there. I found out I had cancer back in the summer. I had been

told on two other occasions that my thyroid was enlarged. Blood work

was done and of course came back in the " normal " range. Finally, I

saw my PCP and she scheduled an US, which showed 4 nodules. I went to

a couple of endo's here in Houston. The second did a FNA and found

cancer. After talking with a friend, she told me about a lady that

she knew that had thyroid cancer. So, I got in touch with her and she

recommended Dr. Sherman. My experience with MDA has been positive so

far. The doctors are very informative about the cancer. Dr. Sherman

even gave me his personal work email address. I have actually written

him a couple of times, and he responds very quickly. I have felt very

comfortable on both of my visits, with both him and Dr. Lee, who will

actually perform the surgery. They both said that it was no problem

with me getting through the holidays and having my surgery on Jan.

25th. The reason I chose MDA instead of going to just any doc. is

basically what you read about online. There are so many discrepancies

regarding thryoid disease and treatment, much less cancer, that I

felt it would be best for me to utilize one of the top cancer

hospitals in the world, especially since it is only about 20 minutes

from my house. Dr. Sherman is also one of the medical advisor's for

ThyCa. I know this is lengthy, but I hope it helps. Let me know if I

can answer any more questions.

keep it in mind for myself. Do you still have your thyroid, or suffer

I had cancer (lymphoma) in 1991, and was cured at M.D. . I live in Friendswood. I hope we can meet soon, maybe after the holidays? Oh, and I have Graves Disease, which I guess is forever. :o)

Best wishes,

Thanks for the information. I am going there in January, as well. But my

visit is to see if I have cancer, and how best to determine that....

Have you asked Dr. Sherman what happens after the surgery, like who is

going to treat you by giving you thyroid medication? Has he recommended

an Endo?

That will be the next big issue for me. I am currently seeing an endo, but

want to get one that I can trust will treat me the best possible way. Not

one that just sits back and does nothing. I have a lot of issues that my

regular GP wont even get involved with. Like parathyroid problems. Possible

adrenal problems.

Thanks again for the information.

Hi there. I'm sure you have posted your story, but I can't remember

it, regarding why you are going to MDA. Do you have nodules or is it

other symptoms. Dr. Sherman is an endo, so I assume he will be

prescribing the meds. Are you pleased with the endo you are currently

seeing? I saw two endos before I went to MDA. I wasn't thrilled with

either one. Let me know what you find out at your appt. Delana

I have Hashimotos with a multi-nodular goiter.

I have had two FNA's done on the one nodule that is

1cm in size.

I didn't think any thing of the results until I posted them on this site.

Jan noticed a red flag and sent my email to a friend of hers that has

had similar cells that were found on my pathology report. (Hurthle cells)

I was told that I don't have cancer. But after tons and tons of research,

and the helpful knowledge of Jan's friend, I have sought out another

opinion.

This just goes to show, that some (most) endo's don't seem to know

what they are doing. That is why it is SO important to get copies of

EVERYTHING, and then post it so that the more knowledgeable people

can dissect it, and let us know what is really going on....

I am just wondering if Dr. Sherman will just follow up until you are cancer

free, or forever? Because you know, you'll need medication for the rest

of your life. Plus, how does he feel about prescribing Armour?

Have you been to www.thyca.org let? They have a wealth of information

about how to prepare for the surgery. And what to expect. Great site!

Good luck, and I will let everyone know about my up and coming visit.
