Guest guest
Got the x-ray results on my foot. Not broken! Yay! I guess I might have a "ganglion", whatever that is. I need to look it up. Thank goodness its not broken. What will they do about the "ganglion"? Funny about the swimming competition lol. ~
Guest guest
I get ganglion cysts in my wrist and hands. The cysts (on the tendon sheath) often just come and go, but sometimes they need to be taken off. I was told that with 98% of the people, the cyst stays away after removal, but I must be in the remaining 2%. I had the same one taken off twice, and popped spontaneously once. I sleep with wrist braces to keep from aggravating them. They can pop under stress, as I found out the hard way (sucking-wind-and-dancing-on-the-ceiling painful!!) Doctors don't consider them very important, but when you have one, especially if it is pressing on neighboring nerves, it HURTS. It's just not life-threatening or as interesting as a brain leak.;-) When I was pregnant, the hormones caused the cyst in my left wrist to grow rapidly, and it was pressing on nerves. They wouldn't so anything because of the baby. By the time I gave birth and waited 6-weeks for recovery before another surgery, I could not use my left hand at all. Try changing a diaper one-handed! Guest guest
, the doc said if it doesn't heal up that he would refer me on to an orthopedist. We'll see what happens!  It's a little better, but still swollen / protruding.    Got the x-ray results on my foot. Not broken! Yay! I guess I might have a " ganglion " , whatever that is. I need to look it up.  Thank goodness its not broken. What will they do about the " ganglion " ?  Funny about the swimming competition lol.   ~

Guest guest
That's good. When I had my foot/ankle problems, the best thing I did was to back away from impact and focus on barefoot style workouts. This gave me immediate feedback and helped me to know when to modify. But you know all that stuff! And, thanks! I was able to stand long enough for a shower this morning. OMG, BEST SHOWER EVER!!!! I'm sure my family is glad too. Guest guest
Ditto me on lap swimming. I was also a competitive swimmer (esp. freestyle, backstroke & butterfly) and I know exactly what you're both talking about regarding it being meditative. No pool access these days but I swam at least a half mile every morning at 7:30 when I was in college. It was just part of my routine and felt great. In those days, 1/2 mile at a pretty moderate pace took me about 1/2 hour. I could have gone longer but I would usually start to get bored after that point. Before it though, I would just zone and enjoy! No tips about the foot from here, I just hope it gets better fast! Re: Zumba, chest, swimming, x-ray results , I love swimming laps too. I am a slow swimmer, and I love the breast stroke. I find it completely meditative. Your sauna story cracked me up. EWWW! I'm so glad you don't have a broken bone! Soft tissue stuff is tricky, though. Sometimes you still need to back down for a while. Hope it heals up nicely! Well I went to Zumba again. Guest guest
Yay on no break! Ganglion cysts benign but can be painful depending on where it is it can be wacked to bust it (honestly, I know people that have done this) or it should be able to be drained with a needle, the relief after should be close to immediate and you should be able to run your race(s). As for that steam room and/or sauna, yikes, it might best be avoided hahaha.Vennitta  Well I went to Zumba again. It was the same instructor, very fun, but.... well... it was exactly the same as last week except she switched out one of the cooldown songs. I know that by the end of next week I will be big time bored with this if it the same songs and dances :/ as I need constant variety. Not sure why this is the case because with Turbo Kick I don't mind doing the same round for a few weeks. Hmm. Guest guest
Here you go Ganglion Cyst Overview A ganglion cyst is a tumor or swelling on top of a joint or the covering of a tendon(tissue that connects muscle to bone). It looks like a sac of liquid (cyst). Inside the cyst is a thick, sticky, clear, colorless, jellylike material. Depending on the size, cysts may feel firm or spongy. One large cyst or many smaller ones may develop. Multiple small cysts can give the appearance of more than one cyst, but a common stalk within the deeper tissue usually connects them. This type of cyst is not harmful and accounts for about half of all soft tissue tumors of the hand. Ganglion cysts, also known as Bible cysts, are more common in women, and 70% occur in people between 20-40 years of age. Rarely, ganglion cysts can occur in children younger than 10 years of age. Ganglion cysts most commonly occur on the back of the hand (60%-70%), at the wrist joint, and can also develop on the palm side of the wrist. When found on the back of the wrist, they become more prominent when the wrist is flexed forward. Other sites, although less common, include these: The base of the fingers on the palm, where they appear as small pea-sized bumps The fingertip, just below the cuticle, where they are called mucous cysts The outside of the knee and ankle The top of the footVennitta  > Got the x-ray results on my foot. Guest guest
Mine I think is more like this one:http://www.medicinenet.com/ganglion/article.htmIf it doesn't go away I'm gonna have it sucked out through a syringe as you mentioned earlier  makes the most sense to me! It is feeling a tad better - maybe it will go away on it's own at some point? Thanks for article, Vennitta! Can't wait to hear even more about Xtrains!
