Guest guest
Welcome, le I've been in many self-help groups myself. But, this group is different. All our messages are encouraging and positive. I think you'll enjoy it here. Affirmations can help improve one's life so much. Every once in a while I send a reminder through here (a reminder for myself as well) to start with loving yourself. Keep saying the affirmation, " I love and approve of myself. " Say it over & over & over. There are many great affirmations, but I know for myself, sometimes I forget to love & approve of myself. It's an important one! Michele ----- Original Message ----- From: PJ Well, I'm in almost 40 groups.. most of them are bipolar, depression, or anxiety groups. Mostly I'm just looking for a group that has members that understands what I'm going through, and can help me get through whatever it is at the time. 4) What resources, knowledge, or experience do you feel that you can contribute back to this group? I can't promise that I can do anything, but I'd try to use my own experiences and knowledge to try to help someone else that is going through a similar thing. 5) IF INTERESTED, tell us the month & day of your birthday, so we can add you to our birthday card list & Calendar. (optional) 10/10/86 6) Please let us know if you mind an occasional card or newletter to your email address or not? As long as it isn't that frequent, then no, I don't mind. Birthday Cards: Yes, I mind _____ No, please send ___*__ Newsletters or Group News: Yes, I mind _____ No, please send __*___ Yes, hide address _____ No, it's ok __*___ 7) Please let us know if the information you give us in reply to this letter is strictly for the moderators, OR to give out to the group members? Either way is fine, but just let us know. It's all up to you, I don't really mind who knows. ** Are you willing to abide by and keep all the rules in #8 (above)? Guest guest
Michele, You are 100% correct. It IS the most important affirmation. If you do that affirmation regularly, then all of the others will build upon that first one. If you don't do #1 (so to speak), then you won't succeed with the others as well. " Loving Yourself " is the #1 topic that Louise Hay tries to get across to people. It is like the basics. It is rock that the rest of the foundation is built on! And, some of you may be thinking, " love myself " -- ooh, that is vain and selfish. That is not what we are saying here. Even God, Heavenly Father, Your Higher Power, the Divine Universe or whoever you believe in -- would ask you to Love yourself!! It is so basic, but so hard to do for some people. Especially those of us who came from backgrounds that were " less than " they should have been! Even Jesus Christ said, " LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF " . Now, let's look at that phrase more. Yes, it does say to " love your neighbor " . But, it also says to " love yourself " . Now does it say, " love yourself LESS THAN you love your neighbor? " No, that isn't at all what it says! It specifically says : " Love Your Neighbor **AS** You Love Yourself " Love your neighbor just as much or an equal amount to how you love yourself. Because once you love and accept yourself, just how you are, the good and the bad, then you are at a place where the mysteries of life will unfold, and you will have tremendous compassion for your fellowman (or your " neighbor " ). This is a very important principle and a very basic tenet on how to be successful in our lives! Thank you Michele for bringing this subject up!
