You know, this is something that we all struggle with--other people feeling

that we are overprotective. It is so frustrating to try to explain to someone

with a normal child that it really is impossible for your child to open their

own lunchbox for fear that there might be a snake in there. I usually tell

people (including my own husband) that I wouldn't expect her to walk if she had

no legs. That usually gets them long enough for me to make myself scarce.

I like what Poppins said to Mr. Banks when he demanded she explain

herself.

" I never explain anything. "

You could add...

" to people who don't know what they are talking about....no offense, but

this is not exactly your area of expertise, is it? "

I'm not usually mean, but...sheesh!

When criticized, or feeling criticized about overprotecting my kids, my

feeling is that no one else is going to look out for them the way I

am...it's my JOB as a parent. I'm not throwing my kids to the wolves.

That's just plain bad parenting.
