Hi Chrissy,

My son Finn is casted in Chicago. We had already tried casting with another doctor that was unsuceessful, and we also were already in the Shriner's system because we had been going to the Tampa Shriners, but it only took a few weeks to get in. I think they might be a bit busier now because people are more aware of casting and they have more patients being treated.(thanks ISOP) I also heard recently of another family that got in and I think thier wait was about 6 weeks. We absolutely love them though and you will be in good hands.

Hello all,I am wondering if anyone here is/has been receiving treatment/casting at Shriners in Chicago? It looks as if my son, (measuring 30) will be needing a cast. Though our doctor very genuinely offered to do the casting, my husband and I feel most confident seeking out the doctor at Shriners who has the Mehta training and does it there (we are in a suburb of Chicago).I would like to start the application process now so that we might get the treatment started asap, but don't know how long of a process I'm looking at. Did you send in the paper application? Did you make a phone call, and if yes, to whom? How long did you wait before hearing from them and getting the casting started?Any light you can shed on this would be GREATLY appreciated as we obviously want the best for our son, and do not want to wait too much longer (he's 19 mo old). Our doctor suggested we wait two more months and x-ray then, but I followed my

Mommy gut the first time and was right, and this time, it's saying not to wait.Feel free to email me personally (christenandpooks42@ sbcglobal. net) or call me with specifics and names, etc. hm: Thank you!!!!ChrissyMom to (5), and twin boys, Cameron and measuring 30 with casting in future

Hi Everyone,

Who has the casting doc or doc's names at Shriner's Chicago, and the Care Coordinator's name, email or cell phone number??? Help us get in under the age of 2! He's 19 months right now, they can't lose any time. Thank you!!!

Chrissy, you can get in the Shriner's system immediately, online or by fax or phone, there is no reason to wait on that, it can't hurt you in any way. You will want to follow up by contacting the Care Please refer to the post I sent you earlier about sending the Fed-ex package. Heidi, Bexon's Mama, (2 years old, in 4th cast from Salt Lake City Shriners, currently down from 61 degrees to 21)

Oops, my finger hit something and it sent too soon. You will want to follow up on your application by contacting the Care Coordinator ASAP, based on our experience and many other parents. If you can't find my earlier post, let me know...

My urgency is that you want to utilize that rapid growth period, under age 2. We just got in under the wire at 19 months!Heidi, Bexon's Mama, (2 years old, in 4th cast from Salt Lake City Shriners, currently down from 61 degrees to 21)

Our doctor suggested we wait two more months and x-ray then, but I followed

my Mommy gut the first time and was right, and this time, it's saying not to wait.Feel free to email me personally (christenandpooks42@ sbcglobal. net) or call me with specifics and names, etc. hm: Thank you!!!!ChrissyMom to (5), and twin boys, Cameron and measuring 30 with casting in future

Thank you for your action and passion and info, Heidi!!!Have a great day,Chrissy

Thanks, Tasha! I had no idea there were files and such through the group. I checked it out and found the info. Is the Care Coordinator the same person as the "contact person" or is that who I start with and then would find out the care coordinator?

I am going to place a call tomorrow. Do I simply explain my situation and share that I'd like to apply for treatment for my son or is there a more articulate way to do this?

Any and all advice would be so helpful. I'm nervous and hopeful and impatient.

THANK YOU ALL!

Our doctor suggested we wait two more months and x-ray then, but I followed

my Mommy gut the first time and was right, and this time, it's saying not to wait.Feel free to email me personally (christenandpooks42@ sbcglobal. net) or call me with specifics and names, etc. hm: Thank you!!!!ChrissyMom to (5), and twin boys, Cameron and measuring 30 with casting in future____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ __

I would think they are the same, but not positive. Start out there. Explain why you are calling and they should be able to direct you if that is not the right person.Good luck and check all the files in the FILES section especially the first article written by Dr. Mehta if you have not already.Let us know how it goes. TashaMommy of 4 year old twin boys- and Fort Worth, TexasSeries of 6 casts for 14 months and now in a night brace. is treated at Texas ish Rite Hospital. You can read 's story at....http://www.infantilescoliosis.org/stories.htmlFrom: Chrissa To: infantile_scoliosis Sent: Thu, October 15, 2009 11:31:44 PMSubject: Re: Chicago Shriners advice!!

I know this is extremely late regarding this topic( I have been absolutely horrible at reading emails since our 3rd kid arrived), but I just wanted to tell you our daughter goes to Shriners of Chicago and we couldnt be any more happier there. The drs and nurses and anesthesiologists are just all amazingly nice! Our daughters spine went from a dangerous 74 degree curve to a 8 degree curve currently from 1 1/2 yrs of casting with the Grace of God through the work of our dr. She is in her 8th and final cast, then will be braced! We absolutely love her dr and nurse! Good luck!ShaunaFrom: mamato3
