Guest guest
Hello, I'm sorry to hear you've been sick for so long. Unfortunately, people can feel ill for a long time with thyroid disease before they are optimally treated for it. You must feel frustrated with your doctor's response when you are concerned about your weight gain, bloating, and not feeling well and what does he say? Oh, your test results are fine so therefore, you must be fine or it must be something else. I bet we've all heard that numerous times. And then pay the bill and come back in 6 months. ARGH! Your doctor cannot determine how your thyroid treatment is going by measuring the TSH alone. There are too many variables which can affect the TSH. In addition to Free T3 and Free T4 tests, he should also test for Thyroid antibodies (very important), and while you're at it, might as well get your ferritin level and B12 and folic acid levels checked too. But chances are, if he's treating by TSH alone, he won't know how to treat when he gets those results either. But post them here. I'm glad you posted for support. You are not alone and there are people here who can help you. Are you a vegetarian? How long are you waiting between each dose increase? It can take several weeks to get the full effect of a dose increase. Good luck. ) (mom of 2 texas girls too) > > Hi all, > I have only posted maybe once before. > Haven't had time. > however...I am in need of some support! LOL > > Ok. Guest guest
I have nothing good to say about $ynthroid, and that is my opinion. I am self treating with Naturethroid, which is also natural porcine thyroid. Did you test for the Free T3 and the Free T4. Those are the more reliable tests. some support, please. Guest guest
((( > I have nothing good to say about $ynthroid, and that is my opinion. I am > self treating with Naturethroid, which is also natural porcine thyroid. > ))) Hi , Is there a natural method using sheep based thryoid anymore or is it all pork based? So far, All I've seen is pork based. Can't do that. The synthroid has actually worked on clearing up some of my symptoms quite a bit! It was almost immediate relief in fact for the worst of them, but it's not enough to last all day. I figure if he will just up me to 125 or 150 I'd be ok, but he refuses to up me to anything more than 75. I am not settling for that. I am going to call around and do phone interviews with Drs today and Monday. I live an hour from FtWorth (and that is the nearest place listed on y'alls doc list, and Shomon's, too) which is too far unless I have to. My doc told me very casually that I had hypo, needed to take meds, and he wanted me to lose weight. I said How, as I have hypo and can't lose no matter what I've tried? He said- and I quote- " do some weight watchers and excercise " . LOL Uh... nope, not gonna work. My husband said last night for me to just find a good thyroid doc and leave our family one for regular sickness. ~K
Guest guest
(((......Thank God for > these groups, as I feel that it has literally saved my life, and many of > these people are full of knowledge, simply from researching, their own > experiences, etc.........Smart as doctors, or smarter, but not doctors, I > have to add. Some things are guesswork, other things have a lot of things > to back them up. ))) I agree! I see more knowledge here and Shomon's site than any Dr I've seen so far... I went ahead and upped my own meds! LOL My husband and I talked about it and I just doubled my 75 into 150- I'm taking 2 pills each morning instead of one. Well, its only been 2 days now but I already feel much better. Meanwhile, I am going to read the " Thyriod Diet " (I think that's what it is called? Shomon's book) and see what happens there. ~K
