Guest guest
Hi Kate -- You still have a little time -- until the date on the foreclosure notice about the sale of your home. Sometimes investors will contact you (since the notice you received will also be on file at the courthouse) - and they may offer to buy your house for what you owe in back payments - and allow you to stay there as a renter. If you can't raise or borrow the money to make up all the past due payments and fees - the most important thing then is wto work on finding a new place to live ASAP. Do it now, hon -- don't wait until the last minute... Guest guest
Do you have some type of income? Look for another place and let it go. These things happen. Christmas shouldn't be about a house-it should be about other things. Everything has bad things happen. Look at what you do have control over. I lost a house also so I know how it feels but this happens to many people. Christmas for those who celebrate it should be about celebrating Jesus not what one has or doesn't have. That is what has gotten this country in such stress and depression. No one sees it for what it should be only what the TV and stores have made it. Perhaps this is an opportunity to rise above it all and celebrate who you are and the good things you can focus on. People are so engulfed in the bad part of it they don't enjoy the actual holiday. ine

Guest guest
Kate, I'm so sorry to hear this news. And why do they do this kind of thing right before Christmas?! Please feel free to vent here and to share what you are going through, and maybe some group members will be able to give you some support, and even some great suggestions. You just never know -- and it is worth a try. I'm glad that you wrote us and shared this with us. This affirmations group is to help support each other and to be good listeners and good friends who will not judge. Please let us know how we can help? I know we will start praying for you immediately, but if there is something else we can do, please let us know! Keep hanging in there, these are tough times for many, many people -- I can't begin to tell you how many people have shared something similar to this with me recently -- and my heart goes out to each of you. Just wish I could do more. Love & Hugs, PJ D McMahon wrote:Help! I just notified by the sheriff that our mortgage company has decided to foreclose on our house. Guest guest
Kate, Have they served you foreclosure papers? You probably have some time... they can't put you right out on to the street without warning. I had this happen to me with a house...even though I had paid. I did a land contract with a company, put down $5,000, paid $900 a month rent and the guy never paid the bank....so the house went into foreclosure. Not only burnt me, but burnt the guy he supposedly had bought it from because that showed up on that man's credit. Look at this as a stepping stone for something else. I was a wreck when all this happened...I was a single mom with 4 kids...had no idea where we were going to go. But, let me tell you what happened...In this time, I met through a mutual friend, we visited down here and from the time we came to the area we knew it was home (well all but one of my kids LOL). Because of the house deal we were able to pick up and move and start a new life (which is something I desperately needed) and I am now close to living my dream. It hasn't been easy...by any stretch, but if I had been stuck to the house it would have been very hard to follow the path that was meant for me. Just an encouragement...I know it's hard to see it now!!! Hugs! Cole Black Bridge Creations - Quality, Hand Crafted Originals Black Bridge Farm - Icelandic Sheep & Fiber -- Worst Christmas Help! Guest guest
Kate, Many of us have been through this hell you are going through right now and is one that is actually one of the wonderful people that helped me out a couple of times with some of my trials and tribulations so take to heart what she is saying. I know this is a horrible and frightening experience, however, something better is around the corner for you. You do have some time. If I knew when the Sheriffs sale was, or if they even got that far yet I could probably help you out. But my advise, if you would like to come out of that house with some money is to sell it quickly. I made that mistake and hung onto it when if I would have sold when everyone told me to I would have came out with around $40,000 in my pocket. However, I sat it out, praying I would make it through, get a job and everything would be okay. Nevertheless, I ended up with nothing and have been bouncing around in my life since then. They say money isn't everything, however, it is in our society in order to make it, but true happiness comes from within and money cannot buy this. I clearly see some avenues here you should be taking right now. When you write to me off the group we can discuss them. Please take some deep breaths and take one step at a time. Remind yourself I can do this " , " this isn't the end of the world " , " this is only a temporary situation and my path, although changing, is for the better " and believe in that fully. You will make it through this as we all have. I cannot say yet that everything is well in my world because this just recently happened to me also. But I can say that I am aware that God has a path for me and somehow I wasn't heading down it. There will be better things ahead for you and you must trust that it will happen. So start packing, looking for some low-income housing and I can help you with some of it, then act upon it all. Call your county for some assistance.....we must move quickly here and keep your head on straight. You will make it if you follow these steps. Move fast and don't look back girl, your not going that way. Best Wishes and Many Hugs...~ Nola -- Worst Christmas Help! Guest guest
Hi Kate, I'm sorry to hear about your woes. I can't help you with the house issue but I can help you with the colon cancer. There is an herb tea blend, you can get it at health food stores and even order it online called Essiac. Trust me, this stuff works! Follow the directions on the tea, drink it daily, and he'll be in remission in no time, espeically if they caught the cancer early. The only thing is he'll have to drink it for the rest of his life to keep the cancer away. Once you stop drinking the tea, the cancer comes back twice as strong. Here's a web site for more info: http://essiac-info.org/ Yes I have seen the " miracle " of Essiac first hand with my former mother in law, and know several people that it's worked for as well. I wish you all the best. (( hugs )) ~ Kassandra > Help! > > I just notified by the sheriff that our mortgage company has decided to foreclose on our house. Guest guest
Thanks for allowing to vent. I don't know what to do. I have only had temp jobs since 1999. Most ended with me being laid off. Also, our pre Civil (it was built in 1850) house was severely damage a few years ago by heavy rains. We told the money s about that and asked them to help. They didn't. - No answer, or anything. You would think they would want us to repair the house to keep the value up. Insurance didn't cover water damage. Money S lender coverage was supposed to pay if our coverage didn't. I guess our other insurance coverage was cancelled without notifiying us. Well, now, they said ZC said there was never a claim. Even though, the mortgage company noted it in their files about it. (Each year, it gets worse. Also, everytime it rains here, we get 1-2 inches. For example from September - November, we got about 14 inches of rain. - most of leaks in.). We tried other places to refinance, but no luck because not adequate income - needed at least $4000 monthly. Also, we were told the prepayment fees would be very high. So, we tried to fix things up, but nothing worked. It was further damaged by ice dams, due to the heavy snowfall that winter. Every year, it has gotten worse. Finally one contractor this summer, told us he would be surprised if it lasted the winter. He thought the house would collapse. This summer, my unemployment ran out after being laid off again. So we couldn't pay anything. Then, the city wrote us to fix up the house. Someone suggested I ask about the claim from 2000. So I did. The mortgage company said it was noted in their files, but they said no claim was ever filed. Also, I was told that the mortgage company filed another claim on our behalf on November 24th. So they wanted me to call the ZC claims number, I have tried calling that number numerous (maybe 20 or more) times for the last month. I have left messages for the person (claim rep) to call me. Nothing at all. Then I email the claim rep and she wrote me saying I need to call that number to report the claim again. She also said she never received any messages from me. Then I get this foreclosure notice the day before Christmas. Originally, the house was worth $90,000, now I think the land is the only thing worth anything which is about $40,000-$50,000. Our mortgage is higher than the house value. We have mold problems upstairs. I think it is health hazard. Our daughter graduates in 2005. If we could do anything, we would tear down the house and put up a Cape Cod. We saw some at Design Homes and they were perfect. This is just a brief synopsis. So I don't know what to do. Kate Re: Worst Christmas Kate, I'm so sorry to hear this news. And why do they do this kind of thing right before Christmas?! Guest guest
Kate, Here's a wild idea. This may not work since I don't know the area you're living in but it might be worth a shot. Since you house is so old, could it possibly be historical in nature? If you can get the history of the house and show it to the city, they may help you repair it then you can stay there. I have no clue how things like this work, but I feel very compelled to tell you this.
