Guest guest
Well, how funny that someone else has that TRH test ordered! (from last weeks posts) The lab tech could not find it listed anywhere in her code book to do it for me, even though this new Dr I tried ordered it. I got in to see a local Dr last week(my husband wanted me to try and find one nearby first before we go to ville) after quizzing his nurse on the phone first about his positions on T3 and the TSH test and stuff. Well, we'll see how he works out. Anyway, I went and got my bloodlabs from my previous dr, the one that refuses to do T3 anything? And then new Dr looks at them and said 'where is your freeT3/ T3 test results that he did? He only did T4?' He said 'you always do a T3 with thyroid patients!!!' I said, yeah, I found that out. LOL So, he ordered up a new batch of tests: free T3, T3, FreeT4, T4, TRH, reverse T3, and I forget the 7th one- I think it was for antibodies? Maybe? AND... felt my neck, which I do not recall my other Dr ever doing(but I might have forgotten)... and he said- OH! You need a thyroid scan at the hospital. My neck was quite swollen, thick, and hard to swallow and breathe! My cholesterol was 275!! He almost choked when he saw it. Its up from 252 a few months ago. He said I may have to take chol meds, too, but we'd see what happens with the thyroid tests first. I do NOT want to take cholesterol meds as they are linked with extreme % increases in breast cancer, for one, etc. And my liver enzymes were very elevated at 79 !! (I had to convince my new insurance that 'I'm not an alcoholic' when they saw the results. LOL) Oh, he also told me that women should be taking a bunch of calcium when we are hypo. I take none and I don't like milk, so that's probably a good idea. I went today for the thyroid scan he ordered. They do have one you can do without iodine in it, so I did not have to go off my meds at all. It was a shot of some nuclear meds- minus iodine-and then the scan. I should have results back by Friday. Plus I get my thryoid blood labs back Friday, too. I'll post them when they come. ~K
