Dear Pouting -

I think that difference in solubility and the difference in hypo folks digestive system accounts for perceived differences in potency from one brand to another and from one person to another. We have seen this most clearly in the old and new Levothroid. Folks who did well on the old Levothroid (which dissolves very easily) are now languishing on the new (which is a hard pill made by a company that formerly made it for dogs) or switching to Levoxyl.

I don't know if you read anything about the testing of new generics to determine equivalency. But they used healthy subjects, not hypos. . . . .Gimme a break! Whut are you guys at the FDA thinking?

You may need a larger dose of the Naturethroid. Or you may want to try one of the generics. Do any of those no-Rx sites carry Qualitest or Timecap generics, or is the Indonesian one the only thing available?

I have just taken my first Nature-Throid and am trying to let it sit under my tongue like my Armour. Let me tell you that this is like trying to dissolve limestone in my mouth. It's not the fact that it tastes bad or doesn't have sugar, it's the fact that it wasn't made to dissolve under the tongue. Yukka!!!!!!!! Hope it works better in my system than the time it's taking to disintegrate. I feel like I have chalk in my mouth and it's never going to go away. Guess I'll just have to get used to it. The minute that Armour went into my mouth, it was love at first taste. Now this. Yuuuukkkkaaaa!!!

You are a better woman than I could ever be!! I can handle the

Armour. It has a sweet taste, and I just go about my business, no

problem. But I cannot imagine what you are going through with the

Nature-Throid, because I have such a strong gag reflex. I am afraid

I would have to go back to swallowing, lol!!!

I think that some of those sites carry another generic (whatever that means any more), but I can't think of what I saw and where, offhand. I've been taking the Naturethroid for what, 3 days now? I'm not noticing anything different about the way I feel, except that I was already feeling better, since increasing my Armour dose over a month ago. I just noticed about a week ago that I'm starting to feel like doing more heavy intricate housework that I haven't done for quite some time, like pulling out appliances to clean behind, cleaning out an entire closet, and I've been doing this methodically for the last week on my off work days. I'm also feeling more like being out among people, and I'm not noticing a brain foggy thing for hrs and hrs after I get out of bed. I'm not sure how much of that has to do with the upped dose or could it be that my allergies just aren't bothering me as much. These all sound like trivial things to a normal person, but they're big to me. For instance, for the last 4 or 5 yrs of my life, I hated bending over to do stuff or pick up things because I always had that washed out blacked out feeling when I would simply lean over, and it was like I had a hard time recovering from a simple movement, once I stood up again. Now, I'm not even thinking about it, as I do these things, and I don't feel like a truck ran over me every time I come home from work or when I do the other work here at home. Now, like anyone, if I think I can get away with having 3 hrs sleep, I've certainly got another coming, but as long as I get a normal night's (or day in my case, while I'm working) sleep, I'm good to go. That's another thing, I'm not waking up all the time while I'm sleeping, I don't know anything til 8 hrs later when I wake up on my own, and I actually feel like I got good rest. I'm thinking that I should pinch myself to see if it's real because I haven't felt this normal in about 4 yrs now. I know that I still have a ways to go, but I'm actually feeling a big difference at this point, for the last wk or so. My muscles in my legs don't feel all weak, and that's something simple that I'm very grateful for. I think that the Naturethroid probably won't be any different in strength and the way it works, as long as my digestive tract is working the way it should, and, yes, I have seen some improvements there also. Because my best guess is that I'm actually in adrenal recovery also, I'm still being very dogmatic about my rest and "me" time and not letting myself get wrapped up in my children's problems or even my own (the "be happy, don't worry thing, hehe). I'm also remembering to eat my veggies, etc....Christmas time should be a very joyful time too! I know I'm never going to meet a decent man, though, if I don't quit hanging out here at my home, lol.

I am so, so happy to hear about your terrific progress! Now that's

what it's all about, right? It must be truly amazing to start

feeling good after feeling so poorly for so long. I notice little

improvements or a positive thought in tiny bits and tiny pieces and

then it goes away, unfortunately. Maybe the Nature Throid is even

better for you than the Armour. What dose are you up to? Thanks.

I'm done with my little experiment; decreasing my dose of Armour to

90mg while introducing the iron to see if that's what was making my

heart pound and palp. Been okay with the iron for a week but all

those nasty hypo signs were coming back. Especially the pain, the

digestive problems, fatigue. I'm back up to 105mg as of yesterday

and today, thank heavens. Now little heart, please cooperate.
