Thanks for the conclusive information. It's so very important that parents realize that ABA is much more than "just" a therapy or a method - there's an underlying psychology to it all, and if done incorrectly without the knowledge behind the skill, it can be un- or counter-productive. Having a BCBA (consult or otherwise) ensures ABA is done properly. Coby Lund is the BCBA for Oak Bridge Academy and he's wonderful. He (and his wife, Janet) also consult for home programs. I would recommend him to anyone.

Beth,

As a parent who did a home program for 2yrs I cannot stress enough to parents on the use of qualified consultants and therapists. Make sure you also check references and also talk with other parents. Make sure your consultant is BCBA or is affiliated with a company that has staff that is BCBA. I have heard there are some therapists who are know consultants-just make sure they are qualified.
