At least you can afford to join a real gym. Speaking of exercising, I have to start making time to go to that college that gave me a free fitness pass...I need to get back into the pool and do some laps and water exercise. Last week I picked up a free one week pass to Cascade Athletic Club, a very large but cozy neighborhood gym down the street from me. It's a 15-20 minute walk and the bus goes right to it as well. I went their once with Fatal Attraction (one of those boyfriends that never leaves your life because while you can't live with each other you find each other irresistable nonetheless) to hang out at the pool and take Body Pump and remembered really liking it there.

It isn't the kind of gym where you pick up on guys. The average age there is over 55 and I love that every day at noon is a senior's class: chair yoga or senior circuit. Lord knows when I'm old I'll need this classes to supplement my mall walking!

It's also a bit conservative. The guy told me my pink hair was fine and tatoos are okay as long as you cover them up (!) which I thought was hilarious because this is PORTLAND, weird capital of the U.S., where almost everyone between 15 and 50 is tattooed except for me, it seems. In the locker room there is a sign saying to turn your cell phones off, use in the locker room is prohibited in all forms.

In addition to the large saline pool it has a swimsuit dryer - dries your suit in just 20 seconds! There are also kleenex boxes at all the sinks - I am a frequent nose blower so am always delighted when I see kleenex at public places lol

I took the 8:30 Group Kick class, which is identical to Les Mills Body Combat. There were 13 people there and the instructor, Lori, was TOP NOTCH. I had a friggin BLAST!!! I was actually sad/depressed when it was over even though I was spent. I could tell people in the class were surprised at how well the new short kid with hair pink did :) I must say I rocked it if I do say so myself :)

I loved this class so much I decided to get a club membership while the initiation fees being waived special was still on. Actually it expired yesterday but , bless his heart, honored it. I'm to poor right now to do it otherwise.

I also get SIX free ONE HOUR PERSONAL TRAINING SESSIONS for signing up!!! Su-weeeet!I would have stayed for Group Power class afterward (identical to Body Pump) but I did BP yesterday at Studio LouLou with Andreea and since I did strength training Monday through Friday this week I feel my weekends should be more about cardio. Tomorrow is my 10 mile run, I'm hoping and praying wonky knee doesn't act up! I've been stretching a lot more this week...

I look forward to trying out the Group Ride and Centergy classes and also all the awesome weight machines on the floor! I was there on Monday night, the busiest night of the week and the floor had maybe 7 people out there at the most, no waiting for machines! I think the older folks go more during the day?

Anyway, I love this older member gym! I still have Fitness where they have porn on the computer at the front desk where people have full body tatoos sometimes, and I still have the Sweat Shop which is from another dimension entirely. And on days when I feel homebound I have Studio LouLou! My bases are COVERED. I'm just beyond poor now and really need a fitness sugar daddy to take care of me!

Hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start!

Yes you do, Young Lady!  I'm thinking of swimming tomorrow maybe.  Cascade has a huge saline pool!  I will think of you when I take the Aqua classes there!

I was wondering what that was on Chris's back! I thought it was either a tatoo or something to hold her mic in place.

I'm tattoo free - too chicken (pain) and then I'd be worried I wouldn't like the design over the long haul and then I'd just be stuck w/ it!Donna
