Guest guest
, I am sorry to hear is sick again. I hope she gets well soon! Part of me feels silly at all I have been writing. Sydni is not having such problems.Either she is still developing a problem(I hope not!) or hers is very slight. She just gets the ear infections, high fevers, and mild chest congestion. also, seems to never be w\o a cold. I can't wait to find out more. Good luck to and hang in there! Guest guest
Traci, I was intrigued that you said Sydni gets high fevers. With some exceptions, many PID children do not generally run a fever unless they extremely sick. Some children run a fever with an unknown origin, though. Autumn has only run fever one time in the past 18 months and she's been hospitalized 3 times in the last year. The ped & our ENT & immuno consults all agree that fever is a good sign, signaling that the immune system is working, at least to some extent. Guest guest
HI , Just had a thought come to mind..... Did have a confirmed case of Rotavirus in March? If not, perhaps you should ask for a stool culture on her. There are so many parasites out there, it might be helpful to know exactly what you are dealing with in case it needs to be treated. Especially, since she just had this not that long ago. Good luck. Autumn (Mom to Mark Cd5-Cd19 PID and ) Re: has Rotavirus AGAIN! > Hi all. Guest guest
Tracey, dont ever feel silly for asking as many questions as you need to, or for writing as MUCH as you need to. I for one, enjoy reading long posts- I dont have the time to, but I do anyway! HA! Maybe its because I tend to write such long ones myself! And its because every little thread of information others talk about has the potential to help my son and daughter. I have picked up so much from this group by reading what others are going through, or the reply posts to others questions, not to mention the responses to my own. , and s mum Re: has Rotavirus AGAIN! > , > I am sorry to hear is sick again. Guest guest
, sorry to hear about your battle with rotovirus! That one always drove me nuts! Hang in there! I hope is much better soon. And good luck with the cat delimna. It's hard having to give up a pet. Maybe you can get hubby to go for getting some fish instead. Traci, the info gave you on the IGE is what we've always been told. Our doctors said that it's not an infection fighter, it's the immunoglobulin that indicates the amount of histimine being released into the bloodstream. Lower numbers are what you want on this. Chad has an IGE of 365 which is way above range. He has to have allergy shots along with all the daily meds he takes. I've never heard of an IGE level below normal range causing problems. I really couldn't tell you on that one. gave you great info on the isolation. I had started to comment to you yesterday when I posted to you, but since Chad is 9, I didn't want you to think, " oh no! " Isolation is usually only recommended when the child has constant infections, can't get them controlled and they just keep going on and go into much worse infections. Chad has had to live most of his life like this. If you met him, you'd never know he's been isolated. He's very friendly and outgoing, gets along well with others. The only problems he's had from it are behavioral and they didn't come until he got older. Because he sees the differences in himself and " normal " children, he rebels. He tried school for the first time this year, had to come out after two months. Other than his health, the only problems he had at school were in letting other kids run over him. The teachers said that by the end of the year, he would've learned all the coping skills for that. He's not in " total " isolation now, just having to stay out of the school environment and avoid as many sick germs as possible until he's more stable. Like told you with , a PID child can pick up germs from well children that will make them sick. In Chad's case, the isolation was much longer than what we'd hoped (many different problems at once) but we all adjusted. Children adapt easily. So try not to get too frustrated over it just yet. You'll see here in the group that there are many children who are going to school, playing sports and for the most part, living a normal life. It all depends on the individual case. I know you're anxious for answers and a better treatment plan. Sydni has a concerned mother and that's one of the greatest things going for a child. Sorry this is long. , mother of Chad, age 9, Hypogammaglobulinemia, GERD, Asthma/Bronchitis, " Allergy King " , Scoliosis, ??IGA Nephropathy, Anemia Re: has Rotavirus AGAIN! > > > > , > > I am sorry to hear is sick again. Guest guest
, I'm sorry to hear that is sick again with such a nasty bug. It may not be rotovirus. It could be any number of GI nasties. I hope that this one does not last long and that she does not get dehydrated. Ugh.......(((HUGS)))) Grace Caroline 8/14/97 Caelan 8/26/
