To all spouses, We waited about 4 weeks after the side effects started, not smart!! They first put my husband on effexor...upped his mgs every 10 days, they got up to 150mg and he wasn't happy at all. They changed it to Zoloft, he hated them, so then they gave him wellbutrin, that was worse, we figured a dosage of effexor has done the trick here, 37.5mg and 75mg together, the 150's were a bit to much. He still gets a bit irritable (nicely put) 2 days after his shot but it calms him a bit and he doesn't bark as loud anymore....The zoloft made him feel as if he had no feelings, the wellbutrin made him hate people all together, the effexor gives him a much better outlook without the feelings of not wanting to be around people, or being bothered at all. Peg/Ifn/Riba is a rough drug....Phychiatrists are a wonderful thing!! , Thank you so much for sharing. My husband and I are in the waiting period to see a Phychiatrist. My husband's dr. told him to stop tx because after 3 weeks on tx the mood swings were HORRIBLE, along with a few other things!! The soonest they could get him in to see the shrink was next wed. If that's not soon enough, and sometimes I wonder, we might just go on the the Emergency Room. AAAHHHHHH!!!! I hate this... Jody, Try and remember it isn't him, it's very difficult sometimes, believe me I truly understand. It's the meds, I used to think, Gawd, what have I done now, they get past this mean and moody time, my husband still experiences moods for 2 days after his shot, but it subsides, and then we get to do it all over again. The shrink will help bigtime, go with him and talk, the one we use only deals with Hep C patients, so he explained things from the get go with us. It does get better....I do know how hard it can be at times. Hang in there.....and vent as much as possible, even let the tears flow....it helps us cope too. Hang in there.....and vent as much as possible, even let the tears flow....it helps us cope too. period to see a Phychiatrist.
