Great Idea Tasha. I will take some pics and send them over tomorrow. If possible, I would LOVE a copy of this book or the pics so I can do the same for Hadley. I think this would help her so much as well to know she is not alone and there are so many other kids out there with this cool brace too!ShaunaMother of Hadley(2 1/2 years). Just wanted to chime in that I LOVE this idea!!! Bex will some day be in a brace, probably for a long time, and it's an inspired way to help not fell alone. So loving of you as a Mommy!! And even had times he did not want to take it off.All this started probably in the last year. He will be 5 in April so he is fully aware of what is going on and can voice to me his concerns.You are doing the right thing for your daughter. Just keep reassuring her like you are.This book is not a real book I am making. Just pages I am laminating and probably will staple together. Wish I had the resources to do a real one.I am hoping and praying this little homemade book will help .Thanks for your help!

My daughter is in a brace and we have had many struggles with it as well. She is only 2 so it's more of a battle getting it on and keeping it on, I don't think she is old enough to feel self concious about it yet but I am dreading the day when she notices the stares that we get and starts to feel bad about herself. All I can do is reassure her that this brace doesn't make her any differant than anyone else...just a little more special. I think starting a book is a great idea. I often see books at the library for kids who are self concious about their body's but I've never seen a book just for kids that show's pictures of other kids with back braces or other medical things that most other kids don't understand. I don't have a picture that I can e-mail you but I can send you a text message with a picture that you can download to your computer. All I can do is reassure her that this brace doesn't make her any differant than anyone else...just a little more special. I think starting a book is a great idea. I often see books at the library for kids who are self concious about their body's but I've never seen a book just for kids that show's pictures of other kids with back braces or other medical things that most other kids don't understand. I don't have a picture that I can e-mail you but I can send you a text message with a picture that you can download to your computer. What a great idea Tasha, I will find one of Matson in his brace and send it

today. And Matson is 4 and still in pull-ups at night (Lily too although she is

only 3). Tyler finally was able to stop wearing pull ups at 6, he is a super

hard sleeper and just doesn't wake up! I didn't mind, I'd rather do that then

change the bed everyday, but some people thought it was too long. As with

everything else, every child is different, I am not going to push Matson and

Lily, but I hope they are able to go without before 6. I am right there with

Thanks !! I would love a picture of Matson. Good to know I am not the only one who has kids in pull-ups. Many of my friends' children are younger than the boys and wearing undies at night. I feel the same way you do........washing sheets everyday would get old real fast.How are things going? Update me when you have time. I miss lots I am sure since I am not on FB anymore. What a great idea Tasha, I will find one of Matson in his brace and send it today. And Matson is 4 and still in pull-ups at night (Lily too although she is only 3). Tyler finally was able to stop wearing pull ups at 6, he is a super hard sleeper and just doesn't wake up! I didn't mind, I'd rather do that then change the bed everyday, but some people thought it was too long. As with everything else, every child is different, I am not going to push Matson and Lily, but I hope they are able to go without before 6. I am right there with ya!! Take care!

I know Isabella is in for a long journey and I'm not looking forward to the days when she starts voicing her opinion about her cast. As for the pull-ups, they all progress at their own time. My boys stopped wearing them by 4 but would have an accident once in a while. I always have a mattress protector on for accidents (or puke).
