Allie is not in a brace YET but I love the idea! From time to time we have some issues with him wearing it. Nothing major yet, but enough questions are ask to break my heart. Yesterday morning I was taking his brace off and we were discussing when the boys would sleep WITHOUT a pull-up at night(BTW does this ever happen?). quickly said, "And I can go without my brace too!" I told him no he would still have to wear it. With a serious, defeated look on his face he says, "Mommy when will they let me keep it off?" I sank to the floor. It hit me so hard.......just like it always does.BUT quickly in a very upbeat voice I told him not yet and went on telling him about other kids that wear a brace. Now thisis where the BRACE KIDS come into the story. I had an idea to make a book with pictures of other children in a brace.IF you are willing to share a picture of your child in their brace I would love to have it. I plan to print them out and go have the pages laminated and make a book........'s Brace FriendsIf you decide to send me a picture please send to this addresstasha.fontenotgmailThanks for any help! My daughter is in a brace and we have had many struggles with it as well. She is

only 2 so it's more of a battle getting it on and keeping it on, I don't think

she is old enough to feel self concious about it yet but I am dreading the day

when she notices the stares that we get and starts to feel bad about herself.

All I can do is reassure her that this brace doesn't make her any differant than

anyone else...just a little more special. I think starting a book is a great

idea. I often see books at the library for kids who are self concious about

their body's but I've never seen a book just for kids that show's pictures of

other kids with back braces or other medical things that most other kids don't

understand. I don't have a picture that I can e-mail you but I can send you a

text message with a picture that you can download to your computer. If you would

like me to do that let me know your cell phone number (if you have one), I would

be happy to help! If not then I can probably figure out how to get it on my

computer and then send it to you.

Hi ,Thanks so much.......my cell is .We have just the opposite problem. went straight into a brace after 14 months of casting. We had NO problems at all. And even had times he did not want to take it off.All this started probably in the last year. He will be 5 in April so he is fully aware of what is going on and can voice to me his concerns. You are doing the right thing for your daughter. Just keep reassuring her like you are. This book is not a real book I am making. Just pages I am laminating and probably will staple together. Wish I had the resources to do a real one.I am hoping and praying this little homemade book will help .Thanks for your help! TashaMommy of 4 year old

Tasha, do you want photos of kids with their brace showing or is it okay that the brace is under the shirt and not visible?

My daughter is in a brace and we have had many struggles with it as well. She is only 2 so it's more of a battle getting it on and keeping it on, I don't think she is old enough to feel self concious about it yet but I am dreading the day when she notices the stares that we get and starts to feel bad about herself. All I can do is reassure her that this brace doesn't make her any differant than anyone else...just a little more special. I think starting a book is a great idea. I often see books at the library for kids who are self concious about their body's but I've never seen a book just for kids that show's pictures of other kids with back braces or other medical things that most other kids don't understand. I don't have a picture that I can e-mail you but I can send you a text message with a picture that you can download to your computer. If you would like me to do that let me know your cell phone number (if you have one), I would be happy to

help! If not then I can probably figure out how to get it on my computer and then send it to you.

Cole is doing fantastic!  Today he was asking for a new cast and was trying to put his old cast on over the current one!4 months ago he was 9 degrees away from moving into a brace.  We haven't had x-rays since then, but he just had a major growth spurt.  I am optimistic that either his cast or the next one will be his last. I have a feeling that this one we are getting wed. will be the last one but I do not want to get my hopes up, especially until we get our numbers tuesday.  So probably 2 - 4 more months.  I really hope that we get to do it before the end of summer so we can do the sprinkler and pool for the first time.

Hi Tasha,

My heart breaks with you! I would be happy to send you a photo of in his brace. This is a weird question, but do you want him with brace and undies only or will pants work? :)

My worry is that our doctor will want to go back into a cast. He will be 4 March 3rd. He just simply could not handle that (I don't think dad could either.) is the third child (our other kids are 10 and 8) so he thinks he is at least 8!

Do you want it in an email or do you want me to send you a hard copy?

Hang in there. I know how difficult this all is. Hugs

Jill

Hi Jill,I would love a picture of . You can send whatever you want. It doesn't matter to me. With pants will be great!Just send through email if you have it.I am fearful of having to go back into a brace full time. It was devastate him! BUT we will do whatever we have to do. Not that it will be easy, but this too will pass. There is reason for all this......I know that for certain!!!Thanks for your support.

>> Hi everyone.... .I hope you all are well and staying warm.> Most of you know is in a brace at night only now. With a serious, defeated look on his face he says, "Mommy

when will they let me keep it off?" I sank to the floor. It hit me so hard.......just like it always does.> BUT quickly in a very upbeat voice I told him not yet and went on telling him about other kids that wear a brace.> Now this is where the BRACE KIDS come into the story. I had an idea to make a book with pictures of other children in a brace.> IF you are willing to share a picture of your child in their brace I would love to have it. I plan to print them out and go have the pages laminated and make a book........ Hi ,Thanks so much.......my cell is .We have just the opposite problem. went straight into a brace after 14 months of casting. We had NO problems at all. And even had times he did not want to take it off.All this started probably in the last year.
