Guest guest
I noticed that Livs hips were always red, too…..But, never once did we experience any skin breakdown in this area. We never had to use aquaphor or anything for that matter. Eventually, the redness turned into tougher skin…Her hips weren’t callused, the skin just became a bit tougher due the casting having proper & necessary purchase on the pelvis. Once the cast was removed I would use calendula once and by morning her skin was ready for the next cast. It never turns into a sore though even when I don't put on the calendula or aqhaphor. Good luck, I hope things get better! My daughter just had her first cast put on last Tuesday. She doesn't seem to be too bothered but I have noticed her hips are being rubbed. I would think this is normal to some degree-but I am not sure how to proceed. I tried Duoderm but the adhesive caused more redness. It is not an open sore, just red. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
